Let's see....the downtown metroplex project the parker Inn went belly up...leaving the taxpayers with unpaid Plex loans, unpaid sales/property and school taxes.

Union College took over the empty Ramada and turned it into dorms...that was empty for years and it's RIGHT ACROSS FROM ALCO.

So what is the sense in opening yet ANOTHER hotel in an area when the Ramada was left abandoned not even 10 years ago?????

I guess this City is so used to seeing its money getting flushed down a toilet they just can't help but do it over and over and over again.

(yawn)  (Waiting to respond to an  intelligent, rational reasonable person.)

Awwwww    The usual DV response when he cannot say anything that proves his claim the city is getting better.

Time after time the HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, RATIONAL, AND REASONABLE questions about the results of the spending on downtown are posed to him:
1.  What has happened to the tax base in the city?
2.  What has happened to the taxes on the financially struggling homeowners in the city?
3.  What has happened to peoples home values in the city
4.  What has happened to the desirability to live IN the city and buy a house IN the city
5.  What has happened to the crime rate in the city
6.  What has happened to the amount of essential services TO THE residents IN the NEIGHBORHOODDS
7.  What has happened to the fees imposed upon the financially struggling homeowners IN the city
8.  What has happened to the numbers of houses put up for sale
9.  What has happened to the numbers of people losing their homes because of high taxes?

And time after time DV avoids answering these HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, RATIONAL, AND REASONABLE questions -- questions that ALL HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, RATIONAL, AND REASONABLE people would ask and answer when they are carrying on a discussion about the benefits and drawbacks of using hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to fix up a section of a city.

Additionally these are questions that ALL HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, RATIONAL, AND REASONABLE people would ask about a community IF they considered moving into it as well

But we all know for a fact that DV quietly admits to himself that the wild, uncontrolled spending is a complete failure because:  1) he REFUSES to cite any facts (using numbers, evidence, links to facts) that prove otherwise, and 2) his actions of avoiding the city like the plague as far as it being his residence prove it.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

What's the latest on this? Anyone know? Isn't one of the biggest things the city needs is a supermarket? Why not stick one there? It would make sense next to Golub HQ right?

Yeah -- they should build a huge Shop Rite or a Gabriel's or a branch of the Niskayuna Co-Op  or a Greulich's or a branch of Sal's market -- any of those would be a great addition to the project at the ALCO site.
