rampage - you are embarrasingly ignorant.  SPD was major part of this investigation.

Christine - you have no idea what you are talking about.  Paltry raid - not as effective as the arids in the 90s?  These suspects will be sentenced based on federal guidelines.  Federal sentences are much more severe than any sentences state prosecution would have been able to dispense.  It would be advisable that you educate yourself about the difference between federal and state prosectution,
Classic example of why passion and a lack of understanding or knowledge are a dangerous thing.

And, the speakers at the press conference readily acknolwedged that this will not be an end to the problem, but will be one necessary and effecetive strategy - but other actiosn are required.

And once again - the usual suspects bring up the problems in SPD;s past as if it had any relevance to this operation.

Sorry, I'm only as ignorant as the news I listen to, which for this was in fact YNN, which happens to be a branch of CNN.  Maybe I should have checked what the local Fox affiliate had on it before I made any comments, but then you would have just said that I was a right-wing fanatic for the fact that the only thing I would watch is FOX.

No where NEAR the likes of that big raid in the mid 90's, 100 some odd arrested and 500 law enforcement of all levels descended on the city.    And the crime statistics after that showed a substantialy reduction in crime for some years after that.

Of course, as they said on the news, this investigation started 10 years ago, guess Stratton was too interested in pandering to the millionaires downtown to be bothered with pursuing gang raids.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

christine you are wrong.  I think that num,ber may be a little high, I seem to remember the number being closer to 50-60.  And, the sentences handed out were significantly longer.  I am not going
to argue you with you because you seem to be more interested in competitive arguments than getting the facts right.

rampage - should have said wrong not ignorant.  and re: where you get your news.  I watch all the channels, including Fox.  I try to keep my comments focused on the particular issues of the thread.
What your political leanings are are completely your right and your business.

christine - this investigation did not start ten  years ago.  They said teh aprtnership between the US Attorney's Office and the DA started back them.  If it had started 10 years ago, some of the arrestees would have been 12 or 13 years old.  This investigation was the next evoluation of the anti gun violence operations which began aftyer the rash of suicides and spike in gun violence.

Who is going to the hoodie march?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Schenectady couldn't have been that bad for the gangs...they're coming BACK after being released from prison. The Gazetto informed us of this just a few months ago.

Crime is rampant and there are little to no deterrents to stop gangs from coming to Schenectady. Homes are being abandoned (great locations for crack/drug houses), no audits are being done at the welfare offices and the scum-dwellers know that the City is NOT IMPROVING!

This isn't simply a cop issue anymore...never was. It's a welfare issue. It's a section 8 issue. It's a poor school system issue.  It's the fact that the City would rather open a non-profit on every corner rather than address the reality that the middle class are being squeezed out of the City.

You create a City where the biggest lure is easy welfare and tax-exempt businesses guess what...you're going to go bankrupt and left with garbage.

Very nicely put.  Love the ^5 now too!  I really agree with the cop issue.  I look at the police as soldiers.  Doing orders.  They are only good as their command as a whole (overgeneralization but..).

What's wrong with you people......money, money.....it's ok to put it in the pockets of the government...

Just sit back and relax...let the dealers do the harm they do....it's not only the taxpayers that pay....it's at the

expense of families who are affected by this.....

And don't think it can't happen in your family....and if it does, oh wow....push that under the rug...

Many years ago, there were some of us who pushed for better control in our schools....no one wanted to hear it...

so today....there still is the same mind-set.....it costs money.....as a note....if the teachers USE and brag....what do you expect??

This whole society has gone awry.  and it's too bad....that some of the choices we make are not with common sense...

AND

To add, the fake ID"S are a direct result of the passive attitude by society.....and what no one understands is that ALCOHOL

is addictive and creates the same problem as using illegal drugs...

It makes me so upset that there is such hypocritical thinking when it comes to this subject....

MONEY THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.....AND DRUGS HAVE THE SAME EFFECT.
