ALBANY, N.Y. -- Federal prosecutors are unsealing indictments on a number of defendants this afternoon in connection with a raid in Schenectady.
Schenectady County District Attorney Robert Carney is expected to be joined by U.S. Attorney Richard Hartunian as well as a special agent from the FBI to announce the arrests.
A house on Altamont Avenue in Schenectady is at the center of today's news conference. This morning's raid resulted in more than 20 arrests.
While we don't know at this point if today's announcement is gang-related, it does come on the heels of the large gang raids in New York in the past week.
A gang bust in Albany last week resulted in 52 arrests. That indictment contained 261 counts, including various felony charges of criminal sale and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Over the weekend, a several-month-long undercover operation was completed when more than 100 alleged gang members were arrested in Kingston.
I think they said that there will be a press conference regarding this @ 2 PM.

And how many of those that were part of this bust are also part of the corrupt Schenectady PD? Well, so far, the number is 0, but we'll have to also read the names of those that go to trial to get the full count. There was NO HELP from the SPD in taking this down, it was all State Police and the Federal Government.
