Why are state workers’ pensions still tax-exempt?

We constantly hear various politicians, public employee unions, etc. proclaiming that everyone should “pay their fair share.”
Apparently, “everyone” does not include the thousands of former public service workers who receive pension payments that are exempt from New York state income taxes.
Isn’t it about time that, in the interest of fairness, this practice is eliminated?

Silly rabbit government workers DO NOT PAY ANY INCOME TAX.
Think about it he money they are given, not always earned by producing something is taken from others and used to pay them.
This Bull oney about everyone payin their fair share is a blackwash.
There is no interest in fairness.
There is only interest in sodomy and fracional resrve banking run by the wandering who.

In NY State...
Social Security, military, civil service, New York state/local government pensions are exempt from state tax...
Also, up to $20,000 of EVERYONE'S qualified private pensions for those 59½ and older are state tax free.

The majority of New Yorkers living on a pension and social security, pay no NY State income tax.

Just watch DV post here saying that civil "servants" shouldn't pay federal income tax either, and that they should be 100% exempt from property taxes, etc. etc.     He thinks their pensions should be doubled too.   obviously because "his two mommies" aren't getting paid enough to give him the lavish life he wants, and he refuses to go out and get a job

See, this is how they do it...QUALIFIED is the operative word. If your retirement is capital gains from sale of stock, or dividends from your investments(because you weren't a drag on anyone and spent 50 years saving and investing) you are an a**hole, part of the corrupt and evil 1% and MUST BE MADE TO PAY. Otherwise you were a good union worker, voted correctly, and toed the line of the priests and witches and you are deified!

Graham's distorted view above...
for the rest of us...
If you worked... actually "WORKED", not pushed paper in and out of your portfolio, and Union or not,
produced a product or service for a living until you retired...  your pension is tax free up to $20,000.
Your investments are often taxable.

Maybe you WORKED, DIDN'T HAVE A PENSION (actially put in 15 hour days with out union demanded breaks) and saved and bought stocks.

I tell you what BOX, I will stack up my form of "nonwork" against the work of any unionized worker, anywhere, anytime. I have put in 20 weeks straight without a day off on my feet, I have normally done 12 hours with no lunch and no dinner, just a piss break for 6 weeks at a time, 7 days. I have normally worked for 12 years straight without more than a 3 days weekend for a vacation (spent at Sacandaga, not Disney) and am one of the persecuted and hated assholes who has invested my meager savings in order to retire because I HAVE NO QUALIFIED PENSION as do the union lobs who smoke cigs and drink coffee every 2 hours. Because I CHOSE NOT to rely on Social Screwity, so go f*** yourself Lazybones and don't let the socialist door hit your unwiped peasant a** on the way out.

UNION WORKERS PENSIONS???
AT GE... Both UNION and NON UNION workers collect GE Pensions...
but you ONLY blame the UNION.

NY State Employees... Both UNION and NON UNION workers collect State Pensions...
but  ONLY blame the UNION.

Many major corporations that offer a pension, offer it to both their UNION AND NON UNION employees...
yet you ONLY blame the UNION.
