So today was the end of the last Catholic elementary school in the city.

Apparently today was some Mallozzi's all you can eat BBQ.   How was the BBQ, DV, word has it you went to help the ego-mania pastor.

Seems the pastor was so hellbent on eliminating the school,  in wanting nothing to do with the school that people wanted, that he shut down the schools website already

Today was the last day. They had a beautiful moving up/graduation ceremony this morning fir grades 1-6 (nursery, pre-k and kindergarten had their ceremonies last week) that was open to all families. Father Carlino did not attend.

Tonight we had a party at the Western Turnpike Pavilion, catered by malozzis, for students, staff, families, parishioners and friends of the school. It was a great turn out and a wonderful time. Father Carlino did not attend but Father Provost did.

It was truly sad to walk through the school this morning for the last time, but the lessons, the love, and the friendships that our family have made in our time their have changed our lives for the better, and for that we are grateful.

Why am I not surprised?    Not attending the picnic is one thing, but for the pastor to not attend the graduation/moving up!   That is the worst insult to the families!

What kind of bishop keeps a pastor who insults so many parishoners like that?

Catholic schools chief looks to future
New superintendent sees strengths in 5,500-student system

By Kenneth C. Crowe II

ALBANY — The first week of school comes filled with anticipation for the students, and for administrators and teachers — especially those with new jobs.

As the new superintendent for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany's 23 schools, Michael Pizzingrillo has taken charge of what is the equivalent of the Capital Region's seventh largest school district in enrollment with about 5,500 students.

"Remember the past, embrace the present, with eyes on the future," Pizzingrillo said is the theme he is emphasizing in his first year on the job.

Pizzingrillo, 38, came to Albany from his post as deputy superintendent for the Brooklyn Diocese's schools July 1 to succeed Sister Jane Herb, IHM, who left the position after 15 years to become major superior of her religious community.

After years of consolidation, including the closing of St. John the Evangelist School in Schenectady at the end of the last school year, the diocese is looking ahead.

"It's important to face confidently the future," said Pizzingrillo, who grew up in Flushing, Queens. He received bachelor's and master's degrees from St. John's University, certificates in school administration and supervision from Manhattan College and is completing a doctorate at Fordham University where he has worked as an adjunct professor..................>>>>....................>>>>.....................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....56.php#ixzz25mRmrTD5

My kids' classes are smaller at their new Catholic school than they were at St Johns. I have no confidence in the future of the schools in this dioceses.
