Is the city school district going to provide the bus transportation to the schools outside the city for the kids going outside the city?

.

The bus policy for Schenectady is:

"Riding District Buses
The policy for all public, private and parochial schools includes:

Transportation for students in grades K-5 who attend schools more than 1.0 mile, but less than 5.5 miles from their legal residence; and for students in grades 6-12 who attend schools more than 1.5 miles, but less than 5.5 miles from their legal residence. "

That means not all students who live within the Schenectady City lines are eligible for busing to a school like St Madeline Sophie. If you live in some areas you could get the busing, but in other areas you couldn't.

If the family is living and paying school taxes in a schenectady county public school system.... The families are still paying those school taxes and should have busing available to them with no 'mile limit'. imho

AMEN to that!

So basically, some children whose families pay for the busing services via their taxes will be denied choice in their children's education.

Yes, DV, this IS YOUR so called renaissance.   Priest that you support closes the last choice of school IN the city and you are jumping for joy, by virtue of your proof of total lack of support for the school.

Well, here go more homes up for sale in the city and more empty apartments (currently rented)

From this weeks bulletin:

$60k for insurance - and that's over and above their "assessment" ???

No word yet on how they're doing with the Bishop's money grab appeal, but also in the bulletin they're threatening follow up letters to those that haven't opened their wallets even further contributed yet

Amazing you have that from the bulletin.   It's quite obvious the pastor as as secretive as the dems  in Schenectady.     Six months into the year and only two bulletins posted on their website?   Terrible.

Notice they don't have an e-mail address either.   What kind of backward parish is it?     Not wanting to pay for the school.   Not wanting to pay for e-mail nor keep their website up to date, must be to pay for his boats and his world trips.

Heard in the parking lot.   This pastor does not publish the financial reports.    Sounds like the city.   Feel sorry for the parishoners there who have no clue where there money is going.   Parishoners have an entitlement to have the financial reports published.

What I really didn't understand is how they were going to raise $60k when their normal weekend collections are only $11k.  Hopefully they already had something in reserve - but I guess we'll never know.

A sad sad day closing SJE.....I went to St Joseph's, ...knew a lot from St.Columbus, and all the Catholic schools produced good citizens as well as

carrying their faith into adulthood.....children need spiritual education....without that I would not be able to survive in this society of greed, immoral, wanton lust,

and politicians who think they are the Higher Power......NOT

Not exactly....every Schenectady resident has the option to have their children bussed to a CHARTER SCHOOL. That's almost an hour ride to Albany to attend one of the only Charter Schools left. Know many Schenectady parents who put their children on a bus at 5:30 am to have them get out of the district.

Heard St Johns is merging with Lady of Fatima. Maybe the pooled resources will help both locations.

Did you get Carlino's approval to post such slander?  People in LoF will be VERY upset if true.  Most of them are older and can't make the steps or walk on the slanted floors.

But that would be a CDTA bus, which would mean the parent has to take the trip too, because what parent would ever allow their child to ride public transportation alone.   Parent said it above, the furthest the Schdy school district would bus Schdy residents is 5.5 miles, and those charter schools in Albany are farther than that.

Every Schenectady residdent, actually homeowners has the option to move out of the city.   Uh, IF they can sell there house which is unlikely to happen, I mean even DV REFUSES to move INTO the city and he doesn't have any children to put into school either.

LOF merged with St Helens and they changed the name to Kateri Tekatwitha

If there were any chance that our house would sell we would be out of this city. SJE school was the last thing that was keeping us here. Between the high taxes and the money we put out paying for private school we could afford a nicer home in a nicer area...if we could only sell what we have now.

I'm sure DV would be overjoyed to buy your house.   His name is Ron Severson, he can't be contacted by calling town hall in Rotterdam, he sits on the planning board and opposes what homeowners want.   Remember too, he is the guy who posted here in total of the SJE pastor closing the school and refusing to provide financial reports.

With the exception of DV and his many imaginary friends on these boards, we all hope you went to the board of assessment to grieve your assessed value in hopes of getting a break on your taxes until the city really does have to reassess citywide.

Start going to city council meetings.   Actually, if you watch council meetings, pay attention to the woman who speaks frequently named Mary McClaine, she is a parishoner of SJE
