The "training" says to never get hurt. So-called "lifeguards" on beaches will one day soon be part of the fire department or police, and will not dive in to get you either. Of course once in a while, the heroic instincts of the individual officers causes him to run into a burning building as we just saw the other day, to save someone. I am sure it is entirely counter to the "training." I wonder if they were reprimanded by the "brass?" But essentially it is the same training that has an officer tazer a 9 year old boy so that he is not in danger of getting poked by one of the child's flailing arms or feet. NEVER TAKE A RISK. Thank God some of them DO. |
