Five injured in hit and run

By: Erin Vannella

Police are releasing few details about a hit and run in Niskayuna. It happened near the intersection of Balltown and State Street. Our Erin Vannella is on the scene

You've probably read in the past, those funny e-mails or whatever source about the funny reasons used in an insurance claim, like a stop sign appeared where there never was one before.     Here's the reason for this one---once the driver is caught---"I was driving along and a driving lane suddenly vanished!"

In all seriousness, it's not funny, given that people were hurt and hopefully they will be OK. But, it's so Schenectady, it's like when they changed the exit lane at Exit 24 on the Thruway to exiting left instead of to the right.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

This accident happened at the intersection of State Street and Balltown Road in the Town of Niskayuna, it was a rear end accident in the westbound lane.  I don't see how this is so Schenectady when it had nothing to do with the westbound lane drop ~1/2-3/4 mile ahead at the city line.

The accident happened almost directly across from the Army Navy store, about 50 feet, toward Albany, from the bus stop.
It seems as though the woman was just waiting for the light, possibly to make a right onto Balltown Rd.

Apparently somebody just spaced out, or wasn't paying attention, and plowed right into her.
It could have happened at any intersection, though that one, is horrifically planned.

The lane drop happens almost exactly AT the Schenectady line, in front of the new road they built, where the Ingersol home once was.
