Not snow, but sound failure, drops curtain on 'Jersey Boys'
By Jordan Carleo-Evangelist
Published 05:47 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012

SCHENECTADY — The Proctors Theatre website boldy asserted Thursday that no turn of foul weather could stop "Jersey Boys," the musical that opened Tuesday for a three-week run at the State Street venue.

And that's technically true.

As snow fell outside the theater, it was a sound system failure inside — the second in two days — that dropped the curtain on Thursday's matinee performance, theater CEO Phillip Morris said.

The first glitch struck Wednesday at intermission when a computer that the production uses to control its sound failed, prompting the show's crew to swap it out for a back-up, Morris said.

But that back-up refused to boot up Thursday, forcing the theater to scrub the 2 p.m. performance at about 2:35 p.m, with a sold-out house of about 2,400 theatergoers already in their seats, Morris said.....................>>>>....................>>>>................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....70.php#ixzz1nxaW2S00

A multi-million dollar taxpayer paid theater.

Now charging volunteers $75 per year for their services.

Making (what they claim) $18 million dollars a year.

And the sound system fails....along with a back up.

That's second class all the way.....

Quite the Renaissance.

According to Unadulterated Schenectady (via Facebook):

"New volunteers for the 2012-13 season will be required to join at the basic membership level of $75 annually. Current volunteers will be asked to "participate at whatever level you can" CEO Philip Morris wrote in the email.

This is what happens when the majority of the people watching the shows are the volunteers.

This is so low...I really hope it's not true.

Heard the production was great! But I'll bet the cast wasn't all too pleased.

They need a new 1 million dollar grant from the county now to "upgrade" things.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

There are a few folks that we know that volunteer at proctors and most are seniors. They didn't hear about this and probably won't be volunteers in the future.

It appears to be a slap in the face to the volunteers who are also taxpayers who are keeping proctors on life support through taxation! These volunteers are DONATING their time! And as it is, volunteers are 'required' to work a designated amount of hours/shows....and they are doing it for FREE!

All the volunteers should boycott and let Morris have to hire and pay for their FREE service!

Bizarre to say the least!!

So, financially struggling homeowners should lose their homes when they can't pay the high taxes to cover the cost of the taxes that Proctors doesn't pay, Yes?

The matinee was cancelled, the audience got screwed but the overpaid "director" enjoyed his comped champagne. And nobody said nuthin. Pilot? What's a PILOT? That's for other nonprofits to pay. Another only in Schenectady.
