The METROPLEX/GILLEN needs to make up our minds here. The people were under the impression that it was developed to garner sustaining jobs and lower the property taxes.....not to support and pay for 'rental units'. The original ploy was to bring retail into the area....where are they?????

Most, if  not all of these so called loft apartments, are being constructed on property that is already paying little to 'no taxes'. So where is the gain for the overburdened taxpayers?

Looks like only the 'select few' are lining their pockets with taxpayer's $$$.............while the taxpayers are struggling, the school system is failing, crime is rising, vacant properties are increasing, taxes/fees are rising and blight is 'everywhere'!!

Great job METROPLEX/GILLEN!!!!!!

Schenectady NY = Stockton CA on a smaller scale.  Google it.  Pretty scary the similarities.

The Open House did not result in one sold property. It's all hype. Now they want flush more taxpayer money on the high dreck corridor on Erie Blvd. Where businesses used to be. Put in DVOR's multi-modal bike path. The same failed plans over and over. No wonder thousands of jobs have left this County.

And of course, those of us on these boards WHO ARE INTELLIGENT, we WILL be watching these houses, we have the addresses of the houses McC was trying to sell, and we WILL track whether the houses have actually sold and for how much and how long it takes.

We who are intelligent, WE WILL PRODUCE EVIDENCE....something the cheerleaders NEVER provide---those cheerleaders keep making statements but NEVER produce EVIDENCE except some random websites containing outdated information.   We who are intelligent will provide evidence from official, well recognized (in their respective fields) sources and their websites

Talk about a piece of fluff, the officials haven't told the truth in so long I'll bet they wouldn't recognize it if they fell over it.

The two lofts above Aperitivo finally rented? No one wants to live Downtown where there are no groceries, no retail of any kind and no neighborhood schools. There's a glut of office space so they moved the space to surplus housing. Release the lead balloons. Meanwhile Erie Boulevard has tumble weed in the middle of the road.

Would be interested what the lease terms were on these units.  Probably for almost nothing to another connected person.

Henry @ Pizzarama has created more jobs throughout Schenectady County than Chairwoman Judith Dagostino could ever imagine creating... and he didn't have to sell the Little League fields out from under the children to do it, either.

Galesi converting upper floor of downtown Schenectady building into seven apartments
The Business Review by Michael DeMasi, Reporter
Date: Friday, March 2, 2012, 6:41am EST - Last Modified: Friday, March 2, 2012, 8:41am EST

The Galesi Group will renovate the upper floor of a building in downtown Schenectady, New York, to create seven loft-style apartments.
The Galesi Group    , one of the largest commercial real estate developers in the area, is working with Bonacio    Construction of Saratoga Springs and Re4orm Architecture    in Schenectady on the project.
Bonacio Construction owner Sonny Bonacio has built more than 240 condominiums in Saratoga, and is in the midst of finishing a $39 million luxury apartment/retail complex, Market Center at Railroad Place, in Saratoga with The Galesi Group.
Bonacio is also building the $5 million headquarters for Transfinder, a bus management software company, in downtown Schenectady. Re4orm is also the architect on that project.
At 409 State St., a state agency, the Commission on Quality of Care and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities, is on the first floor. The second floor has high ceilings that would be suitable for apartments.
The Galesi Group bought and renovated the property in 2006 to house the state agency. The upper floor has been vacant.
The one- and two-bedroom apartments would range from 900 square feet to 1,300 square feet, and rent for about $1.10 per square foot, or roughly $990 to $1,430 monthly, said Galesi Group Chief Operating Officer David Buicko....................>>>>................>>>>.....................http://www.bizjournals.com/albany/morning_call/2012/03/galesi-converting-upper-floor-of.html

We have about 1,350 square feet plut a finished basement, garage, a driveway to accomodate four cars and plenty of yard space (yards are not only for children) to entertain, BBQ's, to have a garden,  etc.   We never have to worry about losing a parking spot if we go to a store.  We never have to choose not to entertain friends for lack of parking space.

AND, we pay less in combined mortgage + homeonwers insurance + taxes combined!

Heck, and if we didn't want to mow the lawn or clear the driveway of snow, we could pay someone and STILL the total cost of those services would not add up to the lowest rent!

obviously, you don't live in the city.

My combined, not in NY, is less than HALF their rates ... incredible that a renter would pay that much for an apartment.  No wonder Ronnie doesn't want to move out - can't afford it!
