I am assuming the damage is strutural from the storms and years of likely low to no maintenance. Hard to tell. Really would be nice if it could be saved and be a productive part of our community.
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!
Sell it for a dollar! That's the going rate for Downtown property because of Death Ray's "efforts". Why should the Armory be any different from the total collapse of the City?
Shhhhhhh, the Death's Head commandant Box says we should just shut up. The voters have spoken.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Have we now become a nation where no one can ask questions now....OR.....question our elected officials now.........OR question where our tax dollars go now?
I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >
As far as the armory.........either sh!t or get off the pot! Sell it....use it.....or...demolish it!

SCHENECTADY New effort by state to sell old Armory Price cut in half but costly renovations pose hurdle BY MICHAEL GOOT Gazette Reporter
The Schenectady Armory is back on the auction block. The state Office of General Services, which owns the 65,000-squarefoot structure at 125 Washington Ave., confirmed it will be auctioned July 24 at 11 a.m. at City Hall. Agency spokeswoman Heather Groll said the minimum bid has been lowered from $395,000 to $180,000. “We’re hoping that this will help generate interest and get the property back on the tax rolls,” she said. The building has been vacant since the summer of 2008, when the New York National Guard moved to new headquarters in Latham. An auction that had been scheduled for May 2011 did not happen because there were no registered bidders. Groll said there has been some interest from prospective buyers, especially with new development in the area such as construction of Schenectady County Community College’s 264-bed student housing next door. “We let them know it was likely to be going up for auction in the near future. We’ll be reaching out to all of those people to provide them details of the upcoming auction,” she said. Prospective buyers need to come to the auction with a certifi ed check or a bank draft for 10 percent of the minimum bid. The winning bid will have to pay the balance at the time of closing, according to Groll. The 2 /2-story armory was built in 1936 and is on the state and national registers of historic places. It has a 75-space parking lot. A number of potential owners have considered and rejected moving into the space. Schenectady County Community College, which played its basketball games there before the guard moved, studied the idea and found that the building would be prohibitively expensive to renovate. SCCC’s basketball teams are now playing and practicing at the Center City YMCA. Schenectady Museum and Suits-Bueche Planetarium also looked at the site, and OGS canceled an auction scheduled for November 2009 so museum offi cials could explore the possibility of purchasing it. But museum offi cials found it would need a new roof, new elevators, a new heating and cooling system and improvements to make it handicap accessible. Also, asbestos would have to be removed. A consultant hired by the museum said renovation costs could run as high as $10 million, according to a Daily Gazette article. Instead, the museum is going to expand at its existing site on Nott Terrace. The Hilton Center for the Arts in Rensselaer had also expressed interest in the building to use as an arts incubator. Executive Director Jean Francois could not be reached for comment Thursday. Metroplex Development Authority Chairman Ray Gillen said county officials have shown the property to a number of potential buyers with cooperation from OGS. “We think the presence of the new housing next door and the other development on lower State Street has heightened interest in the building,” he said. ......................>>>>.........................>>>>.....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00902&AppName=1

Sell it for $1. That's the going rate for property Downtown. And then ask Nisky DEM chair Death Ray for a never ending tax exemption. Keep the DEM implosion going!

It would be interesting to find out 'if' there was any interest 'at all' when it was for sale for $395K. Were there any lower bids that came in? If someone was willing to pay $180K back then.......why didn't they offer it?
It is common place in schenectady for home owners who have their property on the market for $x....but receive offers for much less. Schenectady is use to this!
Personally....I don't think it will ever sell. They might as well just hand it over to SCCC!! It really has no practical use for anything else! imho

SAVE THE ARMORY.....IT IS HISTORY.......FORGET ERIE BLVD......DO THE RIGHT THING.
The right thang would have been sell to Death Ray at SCCC for $1 the going rate for property Downtown with Mayor McCheese's insane taxation. Everything these DEM morons do collapses from the County DSS facade to Van Dyke, to the Big Hose.
Can't pass up a bargain: Cousins buy armoryLauren Stanfort, Times Union By Lauren Stanforth Updated 01:14 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2012
SCHENECTADY -- LeGere Restoration purchased the Schenectady Armory at a state auction Tuesday morning, its new owners saying they might convert the historic property into a sports complex.
Cousins Ray Legere and Jeff LeGere, owners of the city-based construction company that specializes in rehabbing historic buildings, said they couldn't pass up the low price of the 65,000-square-foot brick structure — which, in the end, they bought for $260,000. ............................>>>>.....................>>>>...................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....44.php#ixzz21Z1BIlWV
Oh, is this the pair that bought that old fire station on Eastern Ave? The one that looks really decrepit now? And I'm not sure, maybe someone can check the status of whether taxes are current. I think they were behind, but I'm not sure now.
