The sad thing about this is, a good majority of the people that live in the city have such a POOR education level they can't even comprehend this news, and the total mismanagement of the city and how the waste makes them poorer. City leaders run Schenectady like the game SimCity 2000 with total disregard for the people living there, because they know they can get away with it.

SCHENECTADY Public safety guidelines likely to help form new city driving rules BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter
Strict regulations in force at the Fire and Police departments may serve as a template for the city’s new driving policy. But the City Council will have to decide between vastly different regulations as it tries to create a policy that will reduce the city’s high accident rate. Council President Denise Brucker requested both policies Friday as she begins drafting legislation. At the Fire Department, drivers who crash are immediately taken off the road. They can’t return until they’ve taken a driving class and passed a road test with the department’s trainer. “We don’t take into account who was at fault. It’s just safer to follow the policy than to make the judgment for every accident,” Deputy Chief David Orr said. But there’s generally no punishment for accidents, in terms of fi nes or suspensions. At the police department, the opposite is true. Officers have been disciplined for getting into accidents during chases, mainly because they continued or started an unsafe chase. But no matter why the accident occurred, they don’t take a driving class to brush up on their skills. Both departments agree on the definition of a serious accident — any injuries or $5,000 in estimated total damage. In those cases, the driver is tested for drugs and alcohol, and a supervisor must be notified to write an accident report that gets sent up the chain of command. City Council members have indicated they want to tighten that rule — they want the mayor to be notified of every accident, not just the expensive ones.
