Nice that they can opt out for no charge.

I agree that it's OK for them to opt out, and I appreciate that.  The only problem I have with it is that it should go the other way, they really should have to opt IN instead of out.

Oh I agree.  Rather than the dry shove it in approach Schenectady has done with the water, sewer,  garbage and future fees.

I gotta kinda laugh......read the last sentence in the 1st paragraph.....this is how they always git ya.....

'this is a special service that the town previously has provided FREE OF CHARGE'

It was NEVER free. The nisky residents have always paid for it through their property taxes. So now the residents who opt out...are really still paying for a service, that they have been for years, but can't receive the service 'unless' they pay 'another' fee of$30!!!

Nisky is starting to sound like the city of schenectady now!

Watch McMaster McCarthy separate out fees from the fees and do the same thing.

YARD WASTE FEE
GARBAGE FEE
CARDBOARD FEE

The amount of money we pay to these incompetent "Leaders" is astounding.  They even get bloated taxes and fees from our cable bills.  Another rape.

They really can't.  They should not be combining different  department funds.  They are clearly using these funds to plug holes.

That brings up another point.  Are the bloodsuckers of Metrolex paying these fees?  Does Proctors pay water and sewer and for garbage?  How about Bombers?  Pricechoper Headquarters?  TAX Exemptions shouldn't also mean fee exemptions.  Anyone else know/ agree?  Do they have the authority to exempt a corporation from fees?

Great question! But apparently they can and do and will!

It will be interesting to see exactly how many nisky's are going to opt 'in'.....cause they should be storming the nisky town hall with pitch forks. They need to stop this raping of the taxpayers before it gets out of control. Otherwise nisky will become just like the city. (although some parts already are)

NISKAYUNA
Notarization needed to opt out of yard waste fee

BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Steven Cook at 395-3122 or scook@dailygazette.net.

Residents wanting to opt out of the town’s new $30 annual yard waste collection fee must send in a signed form opting out — and have their signature notarized.
Residents got letters last week informing them of how to opt out of the new fee, along with the requirement for their signature to be notarized.
Town Board member Jonathan McKinney, who voted against imposing the fee, called the added requirement of notarization simply another way to make it harder for residents to opt out, resulting in them simply paying it rather than meeting the requirements.
Town Supervisor Joe Landry, though, argued that the notary requirement is simply a way to ensure that residents aren’t removed from the yard waste collection list by someone maliciously signing their name. Notaries are available in Town Hall and elsewhere, he said.
But McKinney said the notary requirement, which wasn’t mentioned at a public hearing on the fee last month, just makes it more difficult to opt out of the $30 fee.
“Why do this?” he said. “No matter what they say, the barriers that they’re putting to opt out, they’re making it very diffi cult. They assume no one works and will just come down to Town Hall. Town Hall is open just during business hours.” ........................>>>>..................>>>>...........................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01003&AppName=1

Not only do you have to sign that you don't want it, you have to take time to get someone to notarize it?  You have to prove that you don't want govt services and you don't want to pay for it?  How about you only charge the people who you pick up from?  Chargeby the pound at pickup time.

It would not be a problem in Rotterdam.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
