Police hurt in Schenectady fire
By SKIP DICKSTEIN
Updated 02:32 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2012

SCHENECTADY — Two city police officers were pulled from a burning apartment building on State Street Wednesday afternoon.

They were taken to the hospital for treatment after firefighters pulled them from 1316 State St. shortly before 1 p.m.

One officer, Matt Hoy, suffered smoke inhalation and the other officer, Ryan Maloney, had a gash to his leg, Public Safety Commissioner Wayne Bennett said.

"The officers should be fine," Barrett said.

Bennett described a dramatic scene as firefighters pulled the two officers from a window and helped them down a ladder.

But Bennett said if the firefighters weren't there to rescue them "it could have been much worse."

Police were initially called to the house after receiving a report of possible domestic violence in one of the apartments in the three-story building................>>>>.................>>>>>..................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Police-hurt-in-Schenectady-fire-3333344.php#ixzz1mTxRwHvO

Owned by an absentee landlord.   A lancdlord that not only doesn't live in the city, he doesn't even live in the capital region, landlord is in the Bronx.   But THAT is PRECISELY the ONLY type of property owners the dems of the city attract.

Wonder:

Is the property current on taxes?
Is it up to code?
Were their rental certificates given for the apartments (don't worry, Mr McC will insure that the taxpyayers are NOT informed of the answer to this one)
Is the building insured?
Are the tenants living on DSS?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

These questions will not be asked, since the occupants are police.  The questions is... why would 2 officers who are in a house during daylight not be able to find their way out of the place without help?  I mean, aren't they supposed to be the next best thing to firefighters in an emergency?  It's not as if they were sleeping, after all, somebody was awake and fighting there.  I would expect that the cops would have either had something to do with the fight, or would have been doing something to help out the situation, or at the very least are held to higher standards as far as physical and mental capacity that they can handle themselves in situations like this.

I just wonder............. did the cops go into a burning building or did the fire start after the cops arrived?

I am surprised the training allows them to be put at risk.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Yeah I know. I'm not trying to try to screw over people and expecting undeserved sympathy and respect when I'm sitting behind a keyboard.

They weren't looking for sympathy.  The reporter wrote the story - they didn't.

My response was to the assertion that everything a first responder does in an emergency situatuion can be scripted and planned out.

Screw people over - yeah that's what the police are all about....
