Nobody can force you to belong to a church or any other organization. However, when it is the government, your freedom is restricted. Even if you do belong to a church that does not approve of birth control, you are still free to ignore their rules and do what you think you should. This is not feasible when you are dealing with federal law.
EXACTLY!!!!
When the INSANE are running the ASYLUM In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule. -- Friedrich Nietzsche
“How fortunate for those in power that people never think.” Adolph Hitler
Vaedur voluntarily left the Catholic flock(in faith) that he/she voluntarily joined, I assume because he/she opposes the moral teachings.
On a moral ground i appose things like government sponsered birthcontrol and Killing unborn babies because it's just wrong. I also know their is a difference betwen the Catholic Church as an organization and the Catholic teachings.

I agree 100%. But when you are trying to push an agenda on a Religious basis, isn't that forcing others to "belong" to your ogranization. Can't i say "I appose abortion because i think it's horrible" instead of "because god says so" or "I dont want to give free birthcontrol to all people because it costs the tax payers money and that's what charities and non-profits are for and not government" instead of "because god says so"?
I don't spell check! Sorry... If you include "No offense" in a statement, chances are, your statement is offensive.

Vaedur, do you get as angry at people that support abortion because it is a "women's right"? Who said it is a right to destroy the unborn? What moral grounds do those on that side of the argument stand on? If it isn’t religion, what give them the moral authority to terminate a life?
It really doesn’t matter if it is God or Man that is rhetorically invoked to win the argument. The non religious are just hyper sensitive when religion is used. I wonder why?
It really doesn’t matter if it is God or Man that is rhetorically invoked to win the argument...
You have a point. A very good one.
But i will say I don't side support abortion.. I also don't think that all matters are as black and white as people make them out to be.

I actually believe it's not moral grounds they stand on it is a selfish act. I'm not supporting abortion through any of my comments. I think my point is leaving religion out of a debate might benifit the republicans. I think the reglious politics of the republican party turn some off to it, who agree with many of the parties other policies, and it's just my opinion.

If you leave religion out of the debate, who represents the people that believe the moral teachings of their church pastor instead of their public school science teacher on the issue? People learn their morals, ethics and principles from somewhere.
Abortion is a moral issue that is argued based on it is killing a person. I agree that contraception should not be a religious argument but a 1st amendment argument. I don't care if it is a Catholic Hospital or Wal-Mart...Both organizations should have the right to offer whatever insurance plan they wish. And if it doesn't offer contraception, that is their right, and it is the right of the individual to choose not to work there.
Ron Paul's brand of Republicanism is the solution. Return to the republic, let states legislate to their citizens, then the religious "zealots" in South Carolina won't legislate to the secularist in New York.
here's a grand idea....we dont want government sponsored birthcontrol then we all stop paying our premiums/cancel the insurance ALL AT ONCE......it would be like stopping the $$ flow to the Taliban......
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

I'm totally fighting for the north in the next civil war. But yeah, that isn't the worst idea i've ever heard, that's for sure.

Re: Kathleen Gallagher’s March 4 Viewpoint, “It’s not about birth control”: It all begins and ends with the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . .” The Constitution and the Bill of Rights were written by the “people” for the “people” — the same people who work for any employer. An employee of a Catholic entity has the same rights as any other employee of any other company. An employee of a Catholic entity can exercise their right to access good preventative health care (as contraception sometimes is) or to not take contraception. One of the right things about Obamacare is that it is defending the First Amendment rights of the “people” to practice their religion as they see fi t, not as it might be mandated by a rigid employer. Maybe it’s time to sue the Church for a violation of the First Amendment, for forcing an organization’s belief on its employees, some (probably most of them) who do not share the same belief about a woman’s right to choose.

Quoted Text Pew survey: Americans think politicians are talking too much about religion
The right has to talk about something... They killed the economy... they destroyed jobs... the only economic message they've had for years is Cut Taxes... With Republicans failing on all fronts... the only thing left for them to talk about is their Religion.

The poll reflects how fickle Americans are and how easily they are persuaded by a narrative pushed by the White House. The poll showed that in 2006 a majority of Americans(51%) wanted MORE religious influence in government.
This is proof that Alinsky's Rule's work. The contraception/Catholic Church debate is an example of rules 11 and 13 at work. Public opinion is changing based on these tactics.
