I was pointing out the fallacy in your argument  -- your argument = just because most legislatures say it is ok than it is ok. (and you have also argued just because most people say it is ok)    

My philosophical counterargument has ALWAYS been -- morality is NOT determined by public opinion polls or by state legislatures/Congress .....    only God and God's Church can determine what is moral and what is not moral.

Well since GOD isn't commenting on the subject of birth control, and many Catholic universities and hospitals  
already offer this coverage (with out being forced to by law), it would appear that this is a political issue, not a
moral one.

No, it's about forcing an organization to offer a product that is not in line with their church doctrine.  It is about FREEDOM.  Halal and Kosher markets offer a prodcut and run their business based on religious doctrine, why not force them to conform to secular government standards and offer non-kosher and non-halal foods?   The line keeps on moving, as the government keeps on encroaching...and this time it's disquised as "women's health".

I am agreeing with you on this issue -- and adding  "women's health" is really a red-herring since abortion kills unborn female  and unborn male human babies.   In nation's like China -- most of the abortions are unborn female babies.  Abortion is in many ways the ultimate attack on women and women's liberation.

God has "commented on the subject" through the Papal encyclical HUMANAE VITAE and other Church documents.

There are many hospitals and universities/colleges which were founded by Catholics that no longer are Catholic ---  just calling an institution   Saint Whatever doesn't make it Catholic and in many dioceses have severed any ties with those  institutions which refuse to follow Church teachings.

Actually, Catholics believe as most Christians believe that God speaks to the hearts and souls of all men and women.  However, God speaks to and through the Church on matters of Faith and Morals in a particular and authoritative way.

A coalition of 23 religious groups lent its support Wednesday to the Obama administration's new birth-control mandate,
which is under fire from Republicans as an attack on religious freedom.
Their support follows new polling this week that said a majority of voters, including Catholics, support the new policy.

The groups lending their support Wednesday include several explicitly pro-choice organizations, such as Catholics for Choice
and Concerned Clergy for Choice. The coalition includes Christian, Jewish and Muslim organizations.

"We believe that women and men have the right to decide whether or not to apply the principles of their faith to family
planning decisions, and to do so they must have access to services," the groups said. "The administration was correct
in requiring institutions that do not have purely sectarian goals to offer comprehensive preventive health care."
