Hopefully, they find new tenants quickly.

As quickly as they've found tenants for all the other vacant office space?

As quickly as they are finding buyers for the many houses seized for tax foreclosure?

The politicians have even tried paying people to open a business in Schenectady and when the tax free status ends the businesses flee the city because they can't make enough money to stay in business without a lot of help.

Or at least move the expense from the garbage line item to the water and sewer lineitem.

Just talking to a friend of mine about this - rumor around the COB is that Judicial Courts (UCC) will move there out of the current COB - per the mandate.

Well well.......the state seems to be making provisions to cut back in certain areas. A lesson you'd think that the schenectady city/county government would take heed to!!

But NOPE...they will continue to tax the hell out of the residents so they can keep on their self-serving roll!!

Let's not sell the nursing home!
Let's build that Erie round a bout!
Let's keep giving those raises to the officials!
Let's keep appointing new positions!
Let's hire more secretaries to answer the phones!
Let's continue signing off on those lucrative life time union benefits!
Let's keep throwing millions at Proctors!
Let's keep giving the millionaires those lucrative tax breaks!

..........and by the way...has anyone driven on those city roads lately? No snow and yet the roads are a MESS!! Pot holes andcracked pavement everywhere!!

It is interesting that the nayboobs seem delighted if a business closes or an office moves -- that is because they are so negative and hate this community so much.   Those of us who love Schenectady are united in telling these venomous hate-filled bastards  "If you hate Schenectady so much -- LEAVE!   If you actually love this community  Stop spewing the lies, insults and negativity --- and DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE TO HELP.

As for the DOT offices -- they will be filled by either other state offices or something else.  Therefore, I am not worried about the future of Downtown Schenectady ... and still believe that the RENAISSANCE GOES ON!!!

This is how our state and local governments create the illusion of job creation.

Losing 240 high paying jobs Downtown is no bid deal? They may shuffle other Downtown State employees down there. BFD! That creates no new employment, no increase in the City's collapsing tax base and adds nothing to Downtown street traffic. The shell game continues. Overpaid public cheerleaders are spinning like tops to minimize this death blow to many struggling Downtown businesses. They were already in the red before losing 240 customers.

Shell game is correct. Metroplex learned how to smear the numbers from the State apparently.

Give it another few years, that building will be as empty as Olenders and the State will simply leave it abandoned and off the taxrolls.

And the reason? The City of Schenectady cannot figure out that it's becoming the toilet of the Northeast. Violence in the streets, violence in the schools....how long do you think Bank of America is going to stay? People fighting and a murder in their parking lot on a weekday??? They're packing now.

Well Visitor, you can choose not to believe the individuals interviewed after the stabbing at the SA...they were very verbal about the amount of daily violence in the City. The violence they witness first hand...everyday.

By the way, how many of the Schenectady Police live in the City?

And  I am fairly afmilar with the crime stats which are also at the DCJS website and violent crime is simply not a major problem in Downtown.  Aree their fights - certainly especially at some of the service agencies, but, to argue that violence is major problem in the downtoan area is simply not accurate, in my opinion and based on the information that can be readily accessed.

Good thing DCJIS changed their reporting formats and requirements so the numbers look a little better, eh?

Compare crime downtown today -v- 20 years ago ... I'd say it's SIGNIFICANTLY up!
