Myth Making January 21, 2012 at 11:05 am by Philip Morris
Creativity is about imagining a future and building to it.
It might be a vision of a sculpture or painting. It might be a sound in one’s head that must be produced in life. It could be a building design, a computer interface, a car line or gesture in dance.
Words, images, motions, sounds all change the world. Some in bigger, some in smaller, ways. They, nonetheless, change the world.
Recently, talking with one of the staff at Proctors responsible for a major in school initiative aimed at helping seriously at risk students pass their English exams, we talked about his place in the program. He was not a teacher, nor an artist, nor a traditional school administrator.
What, in fact, was his job working with people who had never done anything like the program they were undertaking before? What was the role of the person whose organization was working to change the environment for teachers and students in order to help more students to succeed?
As we talked, it popped out of my mouth: “your job is to describe a myth and keep it alive as others use that myth to create a new reality in the classroom.”
It had never occurred to us before, but, in fact, that was his job and our job. We were creating a future that was not physical but new nonetheless. To lead this effort, we needed to enunciate a dream and keep it alive and healthy and right in front of all the players.
We are myth makers and keepers, at least we are trying to be.
He is even better than a Myth Maker he's a magician and has made millions in taxpayer money disappear in a short 10 year period while hauling in a 6 figure salary while giving nothing back to the city but hot air.
Mr. Morris -- a true HERO of Schenectady and one who I am proud to be acquainted with.. If the nayboobs would contribute one-tenth of what this man has done for our community then all would be well..

He is a hero? ILLEGALLY taking two STAR exemptions??????
Huh?
Huh?
Huh?
What has he done for the community? What has he done to the property values in the city? Huh? What has he done to the TAXABLE TAX base in the city? Huh? What has he done to insure better services for the HOMEONWERS.
Oh yeah, has he put on Thanksgiving dinner for the poor? He has that lavish taxpayer funded catering hall and did he provide dinner to the financially struggling homeoners who provide him his lavish, extravgant pay? Huh? Can you answer that, Hamburg?
Where was Morris at the various volunteer efforts for meals for the poor in the city during Thanksgiving? Huh? Tell us, where was he? NO WHERE TO BE SEEN !!!!!!!!!!!! He was fattening himself with the taxpyaers money at his lavish house wining and dining on the best food courtesy of the homeonwers in the city.
Morris the hypocrite - high tailed it out of the city.
And us, how many people who come from outside the area have bought homes in the city because of Morris & Proctors, huh????? Tell us???????
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
Morris should be working for the Lotto.........'a dollar and a dream'!! Sounds better than.........'taxpayer's money and a myth'!!!
But it is nice to know that Morris is living his 'myth/dream' via the taxpayers!!!
