Police: Girl struck by hit-and-run driver

SCHENECTADY — An 8-year-old girl escaped serious injury after a hit-and-run accident Thursday afternoon on a busy city street, police said.
Sgt. Adriel Linyer said the youngster was struck shortly before 4 p.m. by a sedan traveling along Van Vranken Avenue just north of Hattie Street in the city's Northside neighborhood. He did not know the exact circumstances but said the child was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
