Time for you folks to clean up your act and actually CIVILLY DISCUSS the issues -- which is what I have been doing for 17 months.

You do not "discuss".   You make statements that support things that cost taxpayers money, and when someone wants to discuss where the money comes from, you refuse to answer.

You refuse to even acknowledge that the homeowners cannot afford the taxes, you refuse to state what has happened to property values in the city under the dums leadership, you refuse to admit that city services have dwindled while money has been spent on millioniares, you refuse to state why you won't buy a house in a city you think is so wonderful, you refuse to provide any proof to support the things you say.

Let's initiate a civil discussion here....property values in the city have consistently gone down while the dem leaders have raised the property taxes to be almost the highest in the whole country---and they are using those taxes to exempt millioniares from paying property taxes.  The goal of all this metroplex was to increase the taxable tax base, but despite the hundres of millions, the taxable tax base has been grossly reduced.  Do you continue to support raising propety taxes on financially struggling homeonwers in order to exempt millionaires from paying taxes?  Would Jesus want the poor to pay the taxes of the rich?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Are Tahoes for work or play?
Schenectady leaders debate giving vehicle upgrades to officers

By LAUREN STANFORTH, Staff writer
Published 10:36 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012

SCHENECTADY — It would only be a savings of $16,000.

But a discussion about whether two city police evidence technicians should get new vans or Chevy Tahoes has gotten heated, as concerns arise the techs would only get the Tahoes because they're easier to use as personal vehicles.

The department has planned for months to purchase six replacement vehicles, three Chevy Impalas and three Tahoes, at a total cost under state contract of $160,000. The Tahoes would be for two evidence technicians and one SUV would be assigned to the traffic division. But new City Council member Vince Riggi and Democrats Carl Erikson and Barbara Blanchard are questioning why the Tahoes, which cost $26,000 as compared to a $18,000 van, are necessary.

Assistant Police Chief Brian Kilcullen says the department needs four-wheel drive vehicles in case they have to be driven off-road, like into Central Park. Also the two evidence technicians, who currently respond to crime scenes to take photographs and mark evidence with a van, must respond from their homes no matter what the weather.

City Council debated the topic for 45 minutes at its committee meeting Tuesday night, at one-point Kilcullen and Riggi trying to speak over each other. Kilcullen said the Tahoes are needed for the techs who don't live in the city, with Riggi shooting back, "They should live in the city. It's not the taxpayers' job to buy an officer a car because they live in Saratoga County," the city councilman said................>>>>..................>>>>...............Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Are-Tahoes-for-work-or-play-2592412.php#ixzz1joJ0ZlFJ

Nice to see these departments actually having to make a proposal to purchase something.  It isn't only about the $16,000.

There was talk of adding GPS to the police cars a while back and the union shot it down.  I have a compromise.  How about the current cars are grandfathered in with no GPS.  Any new it would be a mandatory install.  Also, it would be mandatory to declare any miles driven to and from home for any new vehicles.  There's a compromise for you.

You can never say the word "no" to the government. It is only the taxpayer who needs to sacrifice. Dummies, like you didn't KNOW that...

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Based on my ACTUAL response to the thread and the FACT that I actually agreed with Councilman Riggi that it is a good idea to look at ALL THE OPTIONS .. I have just 5 words to describe your response to my post -- YOU ARE FULL OF BULLSHIT

Then why did it take a newspaper reporter to notice a cop's patrol vehicle parked at his girlfriend's house for a few hours while he slept and collected overtime??
Why wasn't it noticed that he spent an inordinate amount of time at the Hess station?
It's a good thing they have GPS, otherwise they wouldn't have noticed the cop that was hanging out in Scotia watching his kid bowl.

It IS a decent idea to EXAMINE the other possible choices -- HOWEVER the need for austerity MUST be balanced with the needs and SAFETY of our First Responders.      Instead of losing my temper with the Nayboobs like some of the other posters - who indeed must be frustrated by their ignorance -- I WILL attempt to explain for those that will LISTEN to why it is important for our uniformed officers to simply have the BEST..

It is traditional that First Responders have so-called high performance vehicles because TIME is of the essence when they must get to work or get to the crime scene. Often these crimes are committed in places like Central Park or other out-of-the-way locales -- Woodlawn Preserve for instance -- where it is unquestionable something a regular vehicle cannot get to efficiently. Now in order for me to agree with this concept of looking at other option -- I am not at all CERTAIN that it was Mr. Riggi's idea since the Democratic leaders in the Council ARE FOR LOOKING AT THE OTHER OPTIONS AS WELL! And furthermore I STAND BY my statement that Mr. Riggi and the GOP are FOR the criminals and AGAINST the taxpayer....DVOR -- I heartily recommend that you not let the little piss - ants trouble you in any way ....

So to the He-She Monkey I say -- GFY!

Back then, the only GPAS monitor was in the Dispatch Center.  Monitors have been placed in multiple offices and they have set other safeguards in place.

They have GPS which was teh point I was making.
