Don't Tell Baby's Sex to Prevent 'Sex Selection' Abortions, Doctor Says
LiveScience.comLiveScience.com – 1 hr 7 mins ago

Doctors should not tell pregnant women the sex of their baby until 30 weeks into a pregnancy, one physician is arguing, taking a stance that is sure to be controversial.

By not revealing a fetus' sex, doctors could prevent abortions related to the sex of the baby, according to Dr. Rajendra Kale, interim editor-in-chief of the Canadian Medical Association Journal. The practice of "sex selection," or the aborting of female fetuses because of a preference for sons, is an issue in several Asian countries, and may also be done by some immigrants in Canada and the United States, Kale said.

"A pregnant woman being told the sex of the fetus at ultrasonography at a time when an unquestioned abortion is possible is the starting point" of sex selection, Kale wrote in the editorial published online today (Jan. 16) in CMAJ.

Currently, most pregnant women in the United States get an ultrasound between 18 and 22 weeks of pregnancy that looks for fetal anomalies, and learn the sex of their baby at that time.

Kale pointed to research in Canada and the United States indicating that immigrants in certain ethnic groups, including people from China, Korea and India, selectively abort female fetuses: couples who have two daughters are more likely to have a son as their third child than would be excepted if left to chance...................................>>>>.................................>>>>............................................http://news.yahoo.com/dont-tell-babys-sex-prevent-sex-selection-abortions-204106978.html

Pandora's Box was opened in the 60's!!!

There are no ethics or morals regarding sex selection. The word used should be 'choice'.....no?
Bottom line in todays society is that it is a woman's body.....and if she doesn't want to have a son but would prefer a daughter....it is her right/choice to kill and dispose of it......yes?

oh....there have been abortions for millenia.....however, knowledge of sex/disease/deformity etc are now weighing in.....with knowledge comes responsibility......

it was simple before.....not enough food to feed another mouth, hence that mouth shall be silenced.....

having choices doesn't make them either right or wrong...but they require responsibility

ie: amniocentisis---testing the amniotic fluid that said fetus is living in for 'problems'.....ok...what are the options....

1. un-fixable problem/disease
2. possible fixable problem with dangers

both of which lead to the choices of

1. if problem abort
2. if no problem abort
3. if problem keep
4. if problem abort

A PERSONS (according to MT) WoW he has his dads eyes!

I think he looks much more like his mom! Or maybe our pet salamander... it's hard to tell.

At the stage when many women have abortions.

It's got a backbone - unlike you Tom.

At 6 weeks (your picture) His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body.

Just like you MT at 6 weeks it's brain is yet to fully develop.

This fetus will some day possibly be a person, even though half of all pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion.
At 7 weeks the entire fetal clump of cells  is this size:    (  )

The clump of cells has the beginning of a brain and the
cells that will make up it's arms and legs are developing.
Life is amazing and interesting to follow.
If a baby is what you want, then this can be a magic time... for some women it will be a disaster.

One third of American women will have an abortion by age 45.
75% of women who have abortions describe themselves as "religiously affiliated".
Catholic women have abortions at the same rate as women overall.

Who has abortions, and why?  You may be surprised:

it's existed for centuries or longer....our lives are just that short.......the choice to have an abortion is for a VERY VERY VERY short life span of a human on earth......we are a blink, a sneeze, a puff....but, it's all we know at the time.....

it's a choice.....and EVERY choice we make as humans has a ripple effect.......and alot of choices come with effects that weren't even considered or that matter for the time we are here, but has a later effect that we never see....

so here we are having this conversation after millenias of abortions being carried out, for a multitude of reasons, can anyone explain what the effect is upon us now....?
