The Daily Gazette Co., the family-owned newspaper company based in Schenectady and publisher of The Daily Gazette, has added an advisory board to its corporate structure. The new fi ve-member board will advise the company’s existing executive board. The Hume family has owned and operated The Gazette for more than 100 years. Three members of the Hume family — Teresa Ann Lind, Andrew Hume Lind and Kathryn Elizabeth Hume — will sit on the new board, along with two representatives from within the newspaper industry: John B. Johnson of the Johnson Newspaper Corp. in Watertown, where he is vice president and general manager, and Jon Segal, former president of Freedom Newspapers, where he was responsible for the company’s 31 newspapers in 10 states. Teresa Ann Lind is pursuing a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of Delaware. Kathryn Hume is a recent graduate of Wheelock College in Boston, where she majored in humanities with a focus on literature. Andrew Lind is pursuing a doctoral degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Maryland. In other changes, William Hume, longtime corporate secretary and executive board member, has been elected corporate treasurer, replacing Ernest R. Grandy, who has held the position since October 1992.
