I went to Private School... So I guess we do see the benefits of Private Schools don't we.

Let's say Box, that your fire department came to a fire with no hoses.
How about an ambulance without EMTs..you just jump on in.
The school districts do just that. They are failing the students.
Money keeps going in..steadily...every year, but kids are not graduating, not learning....we have a problem.
Money is going for a purpose OTHER than educating the kids. We need to realize this because we're 38th in the US...that's really bad.
We, as parents, as adults, need to realize the HUGE diservice we are doing to our youth when we steal tax money and put it into pensions instead of books. Or when we bring in an outside group for sex education and they lie about basic definitions (abstinence for example).
Let's stop playing games and start doing right by our kids.
I'm not playing games. I didn't realize that the cost (if there is one) to the school district was the problem with PP. Or is that just an excuse. I imagine the education at Shen will be the same with or without PP. Only there will probably be less girls finishing school, and more students with STD's.

At least the Shen students will know the real meaning of abstinence.
I bailed out on this one. After 3 or 4 tries, I put on my parachute... opened the door and Geronimooooooo!
The facts are there. You do with them what you want.

I'd like to shake the hand of the guy that packed your parachute. I hope all those drinks last night didn't impair his judgement. Do you prefer Jendrzejczak or Betz/Rossi ?
If I have no kids, so as you put it "As long as he receives no services from the public system there should be no problem"... Why should I have to pay for other kids education?
Exactly why should I, I receive no service in return and gain nothing from it. If my kid goes to public school then yes I need to pay for that since I am receiving a service. Public schools are a mess because they don't have to compete, allow people to keep what they would have paid in school taxes and you would see private schools flourish and education exceed previous levels.
Your argument about fire safety is also laughable, yes most smart people are happy to pay for it, to them it is a form of insurance. Although people should also have the option of opting out and in fact many people do have the option for that if they wish. Fire departments around the country do privatize their services to those who live outside certain limits, most people are happy to pay a once a year fee for it.

Well, if you live in Schenectady, you get in return a community filled with high school drop outs, graffiti, and violent crime.
If you like willingly investing your money in publicly traded companies that year in year out produce awful products - then I suggest you buy property in the Schenectady City School district so the government can forcefully take your money and guarantee you the same lousy result.
Everyone gains from the education of our children. A college education not that long ago, was mostly available to Rich. Then WW2 ended and the GI bill allowed large numbers of men to go to college, that would never had that opportunity with out the GI bill. The result changed America forever. The space race was powered by thousands of engineers who used the GI bill. Everyone benefited from the GI bill... not just those educated by it.
In much the same way, educating our youth benefits all Americans.

With the GI Bill, people actually received an education.
With public tax funds, our youth are flunking out of high schools all over the state (again, NY is ranked 38th of 50 States).
The people who benefit the most from school tax dollars are admin/teachers...even the jailed janitor Raucci is receiving his nice pension and health care paid by the taxpayers.
You show me a school system where 100% graduate, there is success. You show me Schenectady where 60% graduate (that's including those who take an extra year)..well, not so great for a system with $160 million taxpayer dollars...

That's about all you will get

Thought I'd give a call to PP as Box, you stated the above abstinence definitions.
According to the Albany PP office, the definition you have Box is from PPFA (Planned Parenthood Federation America) and not those of the PP in Albany. PP in Albany has their OWN website with their OWN definition.
And the Shen education director is out of the Mohawk-Hudson office (on State Street in Schenectady) and THEY have their own website and their own definitions as well.
Yep, no one has a clue......that's bad business and passing the buck. Great organization.
Is there an option missing there none add up, you either graduate or you don't. Public schooling shows itself again

Unless you go to Schenectady or Albany and you can't afford another option because the failing school is taking the resources that could pay for another option. CHOICE. Not in educaton, you are at the mercy of the tax man.

Sorry you were born here, GOOD LUCK!! I'll tell you how grateful you should be to have public education from my perch a top my private school diploma.
I went to the (Albany) Upper Hudson PP... Typed in their search box, "what is abstinence". Then clicked on "Abstinence Facts " Then clicked on "What Is Abstinence?" This is what opened:
What Is Abstinence? You may have heard people talk about abstinence in different ways. Some people think of abstinence as not having vaginal intercourse. They may enjoy other kinds of sex play that don't lead to pregnancy. This is better described as outercourse.
Some people define abstinence as not having vaginal intercourse when a woman might get pregnant. This is better described as periodic abstinence, which is one of the fertility awareness-based methods of birth control.
And some people define abstinence as not having any kind of sex play with a partner. This is the definition we use on these pages.
Being continuously abstinent is the only way to be absolutely sure that you won't have an unintended pregnancy or get a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
