And this is a problemmmmmm why?

Do you also have objections when parents come in and read to the students while the teacher just sits idly by?

Oy vey!

Birth Right is very knowledgeable about the abortion process, why don't we get them into the clasroom to teach.

The White Supremacist are also very knowledgeable about their discriminatory practices, let's get them in the classroom.

It's all absurd. Planned Parenthood doesn't have to be in the classrooms, there is sex ed in place all ready. Want PP, go to PP. Want Birth Right, go to Birth Right. Stop playing politics in the classroom and let's begin to dig out of the hole as NY has the ranking of 38th of the 50 States in graduation rates.

Are the parents promoting a service they offer?

How about we bring in the local bartender from Joe's Tavern to talk to kids about drinking alcohol responsibly?  They can teach the kids the only way to prevent alcoholism is to not drink alcohol.  BUT...If you do decide to drink, just come on down to ole Joe's Tavern and buy your alcohol from us.  Joe doesn't condone drinking alcohol, but if you're gonna do it, you might as well buy it from us.  After all, alcohol is legal.

That's a good idea we could just hire a company to teach our kids all subjects and we could eliminate the pensions and health-care benefits that the teachers get because the hired company could pay for them.

So then, you're agreeing that this church group wanted the PP instructors out more importantly because they are from Planned Parenthood. Right?

So you're agreeing that PP is a controversial organization because of their teachings about abstinence?  Why invite them in when you are paying a teacher to teach the state health curriculum?  The Superintendent made an easy decision.  Get rid of the unnecessary and controversial organization and teach sex ed with a teacher already on the Shen payroll.

The entire PP problem at Shen is about a group who opposes abortion and their agenda to end abortion in the USA.
It has nothing to do with Shen or it's kids.

You are right!  It's about a public school allowing a private organization come into the classroom and promote themselves and disguise it as "education".  The Superintendent made the right decision.  The SI's job is to keep a classroom environment free from unnecessary distractions.  I'm glad to see they recognized that academics was more important than promoting a private organizations agenda.

Private orgs are invited into schools all the time.

Dr. Robinson made a cowardly decision based on lies, religious extremism and a political agenda.

There was no distractions in the classroom that would not have been there if PP weren't there as the Shen teachers taught the same stuff.

You really should have Box's name.

Schools frequently use experts on subjects to come in and help with classes. By the by Mr. Uniformed, PP is not paid for helping teach these classes.

but the teachers are already paid....I wasn't saying PP was paid, directly, they do get a nice stipend via tax $$ in other forms.....

I pay the teachers to teach and I expect them to.....

PP should be a field trip with parents....

teach kids to learn.....

I dont care about the religious aspect....but the fact that the school already had able bodied teachers and resources(biology, health books) available, not to mention the internet is my reason....

PP are not experts in learning....the teachers are.....it seems that our society has made a bunch of directors(now I understand why it is like it is at work) and less doers....

the teachers are showing by example how to get someone else to do your job
the doctors do this by using 'specialists'
the list is endless........

This is why I homeschool.  Parents should be teaching their own childern.  I disagree with any government teaching of my child's morals.  Parents need to get back to parenting.  When I was growin up, there certainly not this many pregnancies as there are today.  My goodness we have certainly gone the wrong course when our children don't even know the difference between right and wrong.  Oh well.  It's up to us the parents to guide our children in the way they should go.

You and your compadres are missing the point that outside experts are invited to schools to enhance the lessons beaing taught.

PP are "experts" at sex ed. Kids actually discuss more with them, because they don't know them, than they do with their school's teachers. Hence, the kids learn more. Isn't that what you want?

All of these objections are empty straw arguements meant to distract from the fact that ya'll want PP out of the schools only because they provide abortions.

To the home schooler... if your kids are old enough (8th grade), do you discuss those yucky sex words with your kids? You know penis, va gina, masturbation, intercourse, etc? If not, you're doing your kids a disservice.

"Preventing teen pregnancy can protect the health and quality of life of teenagers, their children, and their families
throughout the United States."

The latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that the actual rate of teen pregnancies in
the U.S. has declined to a record low.

The Vital Signs report looked at data from 1991 to 2009 and found that in addition to the steady decrease in the rate
of teen pregnancies, there's also been a decrease in the percentage of high school students even having sex. More
teens are using contraception, too; the CDC says the percentage of students who had sexual intercourse in the past
three months without using any type of contraception decreased from sixteen percent to 12 percent while the percentage
of students using two forms of contraception (for example, a condom and birth control pills) increased from 5 to 9 percent.
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

they dont need to be brought to the school like some ballet troupe....I already 'invest' in public education(or shall I say I am extorted to invest).....then PP comes in like a 'god'????

TEACHERS NEED TO DO THEIR JOB.....

IE:body parts/functions etc.....

psyche' crap whether it be about sex ed or otherwise doesn't belong in schools......although with new legislation via our illustrious elected Santabarbara about autism allows such HIPPA psyche' regs
to be used.....

ONCE ON THE RECORD ALWAYS ON THE RECORD.....

and you cant tell me that PP and the conversations it spurs doesn't cause some kind of 'expert' questioning some kids psyche 'problem' and recommendations to school psyche etc....

I'm a nurse,,,and I can tell you that words that folks use cause very very very bad labeling, esp. in the psyche dept......and sex and psyche go together....so ANYTHING outside of basic bodily function
parts and anatomy discussions DONT BELONG IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS......that includes observance of religion (any)

religion = practice at home even if you need day at home to practice it
sex ed = teach nothing more than mechanics of how baby made

it's very simple....anything outside this blurs the line of responsibility both on the parent's and the public's......confusing the child and making personal responsibility become one of
"they told me so".......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
