Is this what you really think?  The more you post, the more your hatred toward organized religion and family are coming out. You hold family and parenting in very low regards.  This would lead me to believe you either don't have children, OR you believe you are better than everybody else, and YOU are capable of teaching your children about human sexuality and STD, but it's the other little stupid(religious) people that need to be educated by you smart people.

You didn't go to school around here, did you? Your reading comprehension is terrible. I don't hate religion. I have a strong respect for them. But, it belongs separate from our schools and government, for obvious reasons. Not to mention it's the law. I also have strong beliefs that parents need to be involved in their kids' education. I dare say I know more about my kids education and thoughts than most parents. I would even say I know other people's kids better than they do. Our kids' friends talk to us about all kinds of things. They tell us they appreciate our listening to their thoughts because they can't talk to their parents, some of whom are very active in their church. For good reasons, I have total, well almost, confidence in the education dept to build the curiculums for our kids. However, we discuss everything with them. Our kids couldn't believe how embarrassed their friends acted in sex ed class. Frankly, neither could I. Those kids were also embarrassed in front of their friends because their parents failed them. Sad.

100 years of the public school system has FAILED miserably.  The reason it has failed is because zealots like you are so hell bent on molding children's personal behaviors and how to conform  The real education like math and science are neglected.  You would never see a passionate debate about math or science performance in publics school.  But god forbid you question the appropriateness of PP teaching sex in public school, the lefties really dig in their heels.  That is a sacred cow you DO NOT TOUCH.

zealots like me? And here I thought you had no sense of humor. Do you mean educating when you say molding? real education?

This issue isn't so much about PP as it is about the school superintendent making a rash decision with no transparancy or balance of facts. It's a subtle difference you see.

I understand why Cicero is so angry at the public school system... It's because he got so little out of his education...
and it shows.

Social Security, military, civil service, New York state/local government pensions,  also, up to $20,000
of qualified private pensions for those 59½ and older:
are exempt from  state income tax.
Most New Yorkers who receives a pension pays no income tax or very little state income tax.

You're great!!

The double and triple dippers that work for the government get 100% NYS income tax exemption from their $100K pension.  And the private pension gets to deduct "up to" $20K on the same $100K pension, and gets taxed on the $80K.  Yes, exactly the same, everybody paying their "fair share".  Box, you are defending the undefensible.

The government worker believes 'what's yours is mine, and what's mine is mine'.  You pay, but you have no say.

Don't know where the hell you are getting your info from cause this was NEVER a religious issue! The shen parents, students and teachers thought PP crossed the line regarding sex ed....from an educational point of view...........simple as that!!

It appears that  you are disconnected from the folks who live in and work in the district to obtain the FACTS! These are clearly just  your 'opinions'....which you are entitled to.

You are entitled to your opinion but you can't spin the truth/facts!!

Wrong, bumble! You have to get off this board sometimes to gather some real facts.

Here's a few factoids fer ya:
1. No Shen teachers complained about PP instructors! And they wee in the classrooms with them!
2. Only parents from the Round Lake "church" (i.e. religious!) complained.
3. Only students of those complaining parents emailed the BOE, coincidentally with the exact same complaintsa as their parents.

All their complaints were couched in their extreme "religious" position that
1. abstinence only sex ed should be taught and
2. the only instuctors they complained about were PP instructors EVEN tho they taught the exact same material as Shen instructors with Shen instructors in the classroom!

Their goal was to get PP booted. And they succeeded by bullying the superintendent.

This was a well run political hit on Planned Parenthood!

I know quite a few retired or soon to be retired state workers.  None make $100K pensions.  None make $80k
pensions.  None make $60k in pension.  None make $50k in pension.  none make $40k in pension.
The guys that I worked with that are retired from private industry:
None make $100k pensions.  None make $80k pensions.  None make $60k in pension.  None make $50k in
pension.  none make $40k in pension.

In Cicero's neighborhood,  every state secretary, teacher or state truck driver will be taking home $100k state
pensions.  Nice neighborhood!

No, big brother is big brother...Is big brother out to get ME?  NO.  But to act as if big brother doesn't exist and that big brother isn't BIGGER and is more powerful, and thinks it is more righteous than me and the rest of the public is undeniable.  The state public school system has it's dogmatic beliefs, and when a small group challenges the pubic school orthodoxy, they are treated like heretics for challenging the church elders.  You MUST believe the teachings of the holy state curriculum, and blindly believe what the elders at Planned Parenthood teach.  There is only but one way to sexual salvation, and that is to accept Margret Sanger and her modern disciples as your personal savior.

Big brother isn't out to get me, but, big brother has an agenda.  History has shown, that the more big brother tries to help and get involved in family planning and moral teaching, the number of single mother pregnancies go up, and the divorce rate goes up, and the rate of STD infections go up.  Interestingly the same things they claim to be combating.

Pick whatever number you want.  How about $30K?  NYS pension - 100% NYS income tax exempt.  The $30K private pension - deduct $20K from the $30K - pays tax on $10K.  Does that make you feel better?

BTW, I know a person that works for the NYS Dept of Ag. and is collecting his $60K pension and still working per diem for the dept. of ag.  So, ask around a little more, those $60K pensions are out there.

Maybe you live in a 1% neighborhood, with lots of $60K pensions.  The rest of us don't.
Why does it bother you that a state worker gets a pension?  They signed up for a job with a state pension when
they were hired.  If they are retired and have another job either with or out side of the state??? Why is that a
problem?

Are you having comprehension problem?  THEY DON'T PAY STATE INCOME TAX ON THEIR PENSION.  Like I said, to a bureaucrat 'what yours is mine, and what mine is mine.  They love taxes, until they have to pay them.

Btw...$60k is the 1%?  If that is the case, the whole Rotterdam police department is the 1%.  Go call your occupy buddies and occupy the RPD.

educators should be teaching kids how to learn.....not by wrote but by big picture things.....SEX education is a biological function that doesn't require PP....we pay teachers for that.....

PP adds the 'mystery' 'drama' 'ewww' to the whole scenario......

having PP in the schools just says that I have paid a teacher(s) salary who didn't perform what I paid them for......

the parent's(stupid or not by anyone's judgement here) can tell their kids about PP and the services offered....THERE ARE BILLBOARDS ALL OVER.......

If we think we are safer/smarter/better off with PP that's pretty shortsighted.....

so why does PP get to go to the schools....how about pediatricians? how about fertility specialists? how about infectious disease Doctors.....???? I mean really the list is endless....

I dont agree with the church....but PP IS NOT A GOD EITHER......

school taxes are paid for teachers to teach such things.......THAT'S WHAT THEY WENT TO COLLEGE TO GET THEIR DEGREE FOR....AND WHY I PAY THEIR SALARY.....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

. I also have strong beliefs that parents need to be involved in their kids' education.

Parents need to be involved in their childs ACADEMICS.  Teachers are responsible for ACADEMICS.  Peer leaders trained by PP is not acedemics, it's educating moral behavior.

Parents are responsible for their child's education, schools are tools to be used and managed by the parents in the development of their child academically.

Your just a hater.   You take comfort with the fact that you don't have what it takes to be the upper 1%.    You probably got trophy for last place finishes.  You probably made honor roll but never went to college.  You probably never employed anyone.  Your just a low goal, low self esteem wannabe.
