This is a very weak argument.  First, explain how teaching about politics and war influence personal behavior?  Code of Conduct - I'll give ya a maybe, but that's not a very strong argument. If the student athlete’s code of conduct included personal sexual behaviors, I'd disagree with that...But curfews and grade minimums is a little different from determining what acceptable and unacceptable sexual behavior is.

I think I see why you can't understand oppossing views now. If I have to explain how these classes would impact student behavior I'm afraid you wouldn't understand it. Maybe further posts will help you.

By the way..
The PP Sex Ed classes are free from Planned Parenthood.

The time is not free.  I pay taxes for my children to be learning the 3 R's.  In this instance, the school would be wasting my resources by subjecting my child to an unnecessary class, when my child could have been using that time to learn math or English. Time is money, and this is a misallocation of time.

This is the 21st century, not the 1800s. Schools teach a lot more than Readin, Rittin and Rithmatic these days. Shen's website lists classes offered and descriptions of them. It might help you to follow along if you read some of it.

Sad thing is, Americans were better educated in the 1800's.  America has actually went DOWN in the rankings versus other developed nations in things that count like math and science.  We very well may be #1 in sexual education in the world.  YAAAAAY!!!

You're an educator?  It amazes me how we are always taught by the educator to be "tolerant" toward people in the minority or people with different sets of values.  But in the case of person’s religious (Christian) teachings, you apparently feel that the feelings of embarrassment the students were feeling must be disregarded for what you believe is the greater good of society.  You even took a shot at the parents for not using words used by PP.

I would be interested to see how you would react if this were a group of Muslim parents voicing their opinions about PP.

AB and Box, reaffirm my understanding about the public education system and that there are those in their ranks that feel so strongly about forcing their agenda with total disregard for all those that may oppose.  The statist is always in a fight to control the collective conscience of the community.  For it is their job to create conformity.

minority? different sets of values? embarrassed feelings? Seriously?

What minority? Those religious partisans?

How do you think sex ed should be taught? Want to use words like pee pee, down there, boobies? These students are young adults, 11th and 12th grade. 16, 17 and 18 year olds. If their parents aren't willing to use real words then thank God the school will! A friend of my daughter actually thought she couldn't get pregnant during her first time having sex. A friend of hers thought if she washed up immediately after sex that she couldn't get pregnant or get an STD. Other kids thought they could be abstinent if they engaged in other sexual activities. PP instructors went to great lengths to explain that while some people defined abstinence as no penis girl private penetration, but that their definition is absolutely no sexual contact of any kind. (This is an issue those church people lied about!)

Are these really the beliefs you think our youth should have just because their parents won't or can't discuss these issues?  It's ignorance like this that causes STDs to be spread and teen pregnancies to explode. The curriculum emphasizes abstinence but, covers all possibilities. People like those church whiners think that because other issues are discussed that that is giving the kids permission to have sex.

When are they going to treat those kids like the young adults they are?

Quick call Cicero's School District and have them cancel all art, sports, gym, music... Cicero's time is not free and he
only has time for the 3R's.

Apparently STD's, pregnancy and birth control at Cicero's school are unnecessary.  They are all good Christians, so
they don't have sex so STD's, pregnancy and birth control are unnecessary.

I agree,  sports, music and art should all be electives.  I my child's aptitudes are in the sciences and not music, I should have the choice of building a curriculum around the sciences.

If you talk to Europeans, they are amazed that we have sports in our schools.  They even laugh at the American collegiate student athlete.  They don't understand how we invest resources into a person who goes in to college to play sports and is thick as two boards, and walks out with a degree, and still thick as two boards.  The European alternative is Club Athletics, where you pay to join the club.  Athletes are athletes, intellectuals are intellectuals.

Is this what you really think?  The more you post, the more your hatred toward organized religion and family are coming out. You hold family and parenting in very low regards.  This would lead me to believe you either don't have children, OR you believe you are better than everybody else, and YOU are capable of teaching your children about human sexuality and STD, but it's the other little stupid(religious) people that need to be educated by you smart people.

100 years of the public school system has FAILED miserably.  The reason it has failed is because zealots like you are so hell bent on molding children's personal behaviors and how to conform  The real education like math and science are neglected.  You would never see a passionate debate about math or science performance in publics school.  But god forbid you question the appropriateness of PP teaching sex in public school, the lefties really dig in their heels.  That is a sacred cow you DO NOT TOUCH.

Oh Cicero, but you DO have a choice.  If you don't like the education that the taxpayers are providing for your children,
then you can always opt for a private school.  Of course don't as the rest of us to pay for your child's education,
when we've already paid for it once in public schools.

There are several excellent private schools locally... so you WILL have a wide CHOICE!

As soon as I get MY tax money back from the pubic school I won't be attending, then I will.  I won't expect the taxpayer to fund my private school, and the people that choose the public option, shouldn't expect me to fund their childs education.  A person that "chooses" to use the public education should surely pay more if they are using the system.

How much choice does the that kid in Schenectady City School have?  I'm sure much less of a choice than I do.  But hey, at least they are being educated about sex.  That's all that matters.

Cicero wants HIS tax dollars back because he want his kids to go to a private school... Boo Hoo   Poor Cic.
There are thousands of taxpayers in Cicero's district with NO KID, yet they pay for Cicero's kids to get a good
education at public schools.  Should they get their money back too???

Cic... if you want a private school, then man up and pay for it.  If you just want to complain, then you are already
doing  a fine job.

Yes...It is their money, they should be able to invest it where they desire.  I know it's a radical concept for the statist/collectivist.  I know you truely believe my money is your money...Except for the state employee, their money is their money, and their pension is now exempt from state income tax.

I understand why Cicero is so angry at the public school system... It's because he got so little out of his education...
and it shows.

Social Security, military, civil service, New York state/local government pensions,  also, up to $20,000
of qualified private pensions for those 59½ and older:
are exempt from  state income tax.
Most New Yorkers who receives a pension pays no income tax or very little state income tax.
