SCHENECTADY COUNTY City cop to be top sheriff’s deputy Hamilton leads Conservative Party, was police union head BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Sheriff Dominic Dagostino tapped former Schenectady Police Benevolent Association President Robert Hamilton as his chief deputy Friday. Hamilton, a lieutenant with the Schenectady Police Department and president of the Schenectady County Conservative Party, will replace the retiring Timothy Bradt. Hamilton himself is scheduled to retire next week after 21 years on the city police force. Dagostino said Hamilton will oversee the sheriff’s 10-person road patrol and will act as Schenectady County’s STOP DWI coordinator. He said Hamilton will also oversee new initiatives with the road patrol and help research grant opportunities for the department. “I believe him to be a tremendous manager with the ability to continue to move our road patrol in a direction that will allow us to expand the types of services we currently provide to the residents of Schenectady County,” Dagostino said. Hamilton is the third member of the city Police Department to be hired by the county since 2010; all three are members of the Conservative Party: Mark LaViolette, Hamilton’s vice president with the PBA and an officer in the Conservative Party, was hired as the county’s emergency management director in May 2010. Det. Thomas Delaney was hired as administrator for the county’s STOP-DWI and Traffic Safety Program in April, less than two months after he retired from the city force. The move came after the county made the STOP-DWI coordinator’s position exempt from civil service requirements and placed it under the auspices of the Sheriff’s Department following the retirement of Denise Cashmere. Hamilton will earn an annual salary of $78,000, which is about $14,000 more than Bradt earned in 2011. Dagostino said the increase in pay reflects an increase in duties he plans to assign Hamilton. “He knows what the expectations are, and he’s more than up for the task,” Dagostino said Friday. “These are things that are going to take up a lot of time, and I need someone who is detail-oriented.” Dagostino said hiring the soonto-be retired Hamilton means the county can also forgo paying his heath insurance and benefi ts. Hamilton had earned $101,716 so far in 2011 in the most recent accounting available. It’s unclear what he will collect as a pension following his scheduled retirement next week. .....................>>>>............................>>>>.......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01102&AppName=1
help research grant opportunities for the department.
...Or help legislator to come up with important sounding grant titles to fool the taxpayer into willingly giving their money to government. Like a grant to study waste and abuse. I always find it ironic they waste taxpayer money, studying that very waste. Americans are convinced grant money is a gift from God that appears magically into government coffers.
Very nice man -- great public servant -- he will make an excellent chief deputy to the sheriff.

So what was the reason why Mason thought it was news worthy to mention Hamilton's political party affiliation? Again......we read the gazetto with the 'bias spin' and making something that shouldn't be political into a political issue!!! Journalism at it's best........NOT!!!

Tell us, DV, is it excellent to have someone working who worked just 12 days in a calendar year but got paid by the city taxpayers a whopping $130,000+ in that year in salary?
Please explain WHY and HOW you feel that this is the way taxpyaers should be treated in exchange for paying almost the highest property taxes in the whole country.
Of course, you won't explain that, you won't state whey a cop is justified for getting overtime when he only works 12 days in a year's time. You just babble your comments WITHOUT PROVIDING ANY EXPLANATION. Just an a** sucker. Ewwww
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

City cop to be top sheriff’s deputy Hamilton leads Conservative Party, was police union head BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Again, what made mason think that the folks needed to know that their deputy sheriff was a conservative??? Now perhaps the fact that he was the head of the police union might reflect his qualifications.........but his political party affiliation shouldn't have been in the headlines!
