Don’t kid yourself about Central Park’s condition
Re Dec. 22 editorial, “Tennis and other Central Park matters”: I was aghast at some of the language used to describe [Schenectady’s] park. Last July, the words “crown jewel” were used; now we see the park described as “too beautiful and important.” Granted the focus of the editorial was to talk about the tennis court and dilapidated trailers — however, there is so much more that needs care and, from what I can see from my frequent visits to the park during the warmer weather, they are never addressed. I have often brought to the attention of the city, as well as its citizens, the condition of the lake and the duck pond — debris and scum floating at both ends — not just once in a while, but every day. The fountain, which could be so beautiful, is rarely painted. The so-called flower gardens in front of the administration building are fi lled with weeds — in fact one of them is only weeds. The bathrooms, at least during the summer, are a disgrace and should be condemned by the Health Department. I am embarrassed to have people come from all over to visit the beautiful Rose Garden (tended by volunteers) because of the condition of the rest of the park. I truly hope that whoever has been scrutinizing things that need to be done comes back in late spring and takes a more in-depth tour.

It's all lies! Central Park has been totally revitalized by the DEM working together crew. The entire City is an embarrassment. So bad they can't even hold Tuesday In The Park. The only problem is the OTB tennis courts- lol. |

A new fee to use the park would solve all the problems. C'mon Gary let's get it together.
Maybe we need more volunteers..... |

They already tried a fee for the tennis courts. Tennis players moved to Union College. The only outstanding site is the Rose Garden which volunteers took over from the City. Keep the implosion going! |

I haven't been near that park in about 15 years. It is another city sh!thole! And there is no excuse for it. With the taxes that the city pays......that park should be in pristine shape!! Can someone again tell us exactly what it is that the taxpayers are getting for their tax dollars???? |
