I agree with you! The one downstairs had children too!! Not sure about upstairs.
But in either case.....What a tragedy!
And I guess it really doesn't matter....but where did the one mom get the knife?

Guys - this has little to do with our city leadership - which I agree is poor.

It has more to do with the decline of civilization - and the poor upbringing of those committing these crimes

Yep...........

What the city has become has a lot to do with the politics of those who are in charge.

Everything has changed to the point of passiveness and looking the other way....

This is a tradegy that was uncalled for....it seems that the word "entitlement" has to be printed...it is an attitude that you see

every day.....from what the media reported the woman who dies had caused some problems in the past...but that was no

excuse for her to be murdered....even the neighbors stated that the music was so loud "it shook their house"

Maybe just maybe, if one of them had called the police , this horrific event would have been prevented...

I pray for the children involved...they have to suffer because someone wouldn't adhere to someone's request..

That;s the way problems are being solved today all over the world....violence and disregard of human beings.

I do agree.

And I also agree that the apparently overly generous county entitlements - in addition to the overly generous state entitlements...  Make it SOMEWHAT comfortable to be poor as opposed to extremely difficult  Heck - I imagine the majority of our kids get two free meals every school day.

However it's not a Schenectady problem alone.  Entitlement creep is almost everywhere.  That leads to the entitlement mindset of the populace.

If the victum called police about the excessive noise but the music was turned down just before the police arrived each time would the caller get charged $55?

The leadership of our City has paved the way for criminals to receive welfare benefits, has allowed people to go around the revolving door of the criminal justice system (example - the man who hit and then drove away from the SCCC student he killed on Erie - he had many, many run ins with the law and served little time for his felonies) and the City has turned into a cowboy-shoot-em-up playland.

None of these women first called police or their landlord...they dealt with the situation the way many of the City people do...with their own weapons. They don't care who gets hurt. This landlord rented to a woman with a criminal record AND with kids....it's called slumlords. It's called slum tenants and it's corroding our City with each act of violence.  

It is the City's fault. They've created slums and keep them alive with each property tax hike, with each failing school, with each padded pension......  

There are so many lowlives running around the city who think that life is a 24/7 party. That is what liberals did to the underclass with welfare and the predominant entitlement culture. They make me sick walking around in pajamas and partying on our dime all day and night.

The pathetic City government is a reflection of the people. This is a City who had a terrorist on the school payroll for DECADES and no one saw him. No one knew him. Everyone turned their head in unison. Everything is someone elses fault. The current fiscal mess is Frank Duci's fault. The election results were the Gazetto's fault. Corruption and official incompetence are everyday events. The worst are those that know better and pretend that this is either alright or some kind of moronic progress. Every County doesn't have seven different economic development entities ripping off the taxpayers. Every City doesn't have graduation rates under 50%. Every City doesn't ignore gang growth. Every City doesn't take Downtown businesses off the tax rolls by the dozen. Every County doesn't raise the most regressive sales tax to give money to millionaire developers.

Very sad Schenectady only story. Should have never gone this far. Now 2 families are ruined.
