When it's named the "Gazette Center" and not the "Times Union Center" then maybe you'll have a better chance at the spin.
In the meanwhile, the Gazette staff has been cut in half in the last decade. How many have been cut from the TU?
BTW, it speaks volumes for the TU. The day with the most expensive issue sells two-fold. That's good business! |

The Post Star, Saratogian and TU are all available on-line. If the subsciption grew for the Gazette it's because people were forced to.
Fact is, even WITH free on-line news, more people buy the TU.
You nailed it!! The gazette leaves no choice but to pay for their news at ALL levels!! The TU, Spotlight and others DO NOTCHARGE for their on-line news!!! So of course the gazetto's circulation went up......it was coercion at it's best and some of the sheople fell for it!! I haven't paid for the gazetto in YEARS!! We can't even boycott the businesses that advertise in the gazetto cause we never see it! We do subscribe to the TU!! If yer a 'twitter' person, just subscribe to the news outlets there (they are all there)....channel 6, 10, 13, YNN and even the TU. The news shows up there before anywhere else! GREAT SOURCE! And it's FREE!! |

When it's located in Schenectady... maybe then it will be called the Gazette Center. The Daily Gazette in 2009 cut 16 positions... The TU offered a buyout package to all department sthat shrunk the staff by 30 positions in May. That's all that I could find, but there may have been more at both papers. |

Don't compare an extremely profitable cable news network with a money losing rag who's circulation is down over 30%. Things are so great Downtown they fled. But not far enough. Even worse are the total lack of ads-even their classified has hit the crapper. Boycott a rag no one reads? How's their restaurant doing -lol. |

I didn't compare Fixed News to any rag. FoxSnooze is in a class by itself! If you're referring to the Daily Gazette, their circulation is UP. One of only two area papers with an increase in circulation. |

How do you boycott a newspaper no one reads? Circulation is way down from a decade ago. Reporters are nonexistent. If they didn't have this site and the TU they would have no lead generation. For the Gazetto-no info. If you have a story call the TU. |

The Daily Gazette is still a LOCALLY OWNED business -- and as such I choose to continue to buy their newspaper .............. as well as receive news from other sources. |

how many pages are in a normal TU -v- DG ? how many pages are in a SUNDAY TU-v- DG?
How many advertisers choose to support the TU with flyers not just once a week, but twice - v- how many are in the DG?
How many help wanted ads appear in the TU - v- the DG?
Many more corporations and readers support the TU on a daily basis versus the DG. The online reach of the TU website is INCREDIBLE, they get visitors from not just the area, but entire state, and country and OUTSIDE the US, regularly. It's free on their website because of the advertising that companies pay for. Heck, the TU has been linked several times on Drudge Report and is referenced many times in other online links.
The DG can't say that - no one can see their content unless you pay their ridiculous prices to view summary content and editorials.
TU has it HANDS DOWN over the DG, no matter what the circulation numbers (real or imagined) show. |
