There are many who post on this message board who contend that the Daily Gazette does not report the news in an unbiased manner, favoring the ruling Democrats at all levels of government. Assertions have been made by some that bad news is "buried" deep in the paper if reported at all. Reporters have been called "cheerleaders" for Democrat politicians, government agencies and public authorities. Republican candidates for elected office are felt to not receive equal coverage during election season.
For those who hold this view, might I suggest that you consider a boycott of the paper? Cancel your subscriptions. Discontinue placing advertisements in the paper, and don't patronize those businesses who spend their advertising dollars in the Gazette. Encourage friends, neighbors, family members and coworkers to do likewise.
The greatest leverage that you have to affect change is your wealth. There are so many other sources of information (including other newspapers) and alternate marketing strategies, you need not support media outlets that you believe are nothing more than propoganda tools. |

They should get their national news from FoxSnooze... then they will hear all the news that they want to hear. It will always agree with their agenda. |

Nobody reads that rag anymore. Read the Times Union. They have actual reporters that cover Schenectady. Some of us remember when the Gazetto was a fine local paper that had a loyal readership. |

The TU's blogs alone are proof that they are a success. The Gazette is so backhanded that even IF you have the paper in hand, you still have to look on-line for the 'complete story' (that Plex job creation story was never in black and white - and most likely because there were no facts or proof associated with it). |

The Post Star, Saratogian and TU are all available on-line. If the subsciption grew for the Gazette it's because people were forced to.
Fact is, even WITH free on-line news, more people buy the TU. |

Box, you FAILED to mention that the TU circulation for their Sunday issue is 128,565. Maybe you just forgot. |

It's not the Schenectady Gazette. It's just the Gazette. |

That's true...the TU's circulation on Sunday is much higher than the Daily Gazette... but YOU FAILED TO MENTION WHY, (maybe you just forgot) The Times Union has agreements with its competitors to deliver the Sunday Times Union to other Newspapers customers. These papers now no longer offer a Sunday edition but instead they offer the Sunday Times Union, with their subscription to their local paper. The Amsterdam Recorder for example offers the Sunday TU for free in place of a no longer printed Sunday Recorder. The TU also handles delivery of the Daily Gazette in some parts of the region, as well as all delivery of the Saratogian and the Troy Record. Smaller publications like the Jewish World and the Ballston Record also get a copy of the Sunday TU for free with their subscription. The Daily Gazette is doing quite well with a much larger and better financed competitor in neighboring Albany. |
