I am starting to think Gary McCarthy is alot like Biden.  Runs the mouth a little too much.  Pissing off our neighbors.  I am sure it will make Jennings feel better when he steals more of our businesses.

Well, this might make the Capital Region Democrat Mayors Club* holiday party a touch awkward.

Facing heat after my colleague Lauren Stanforth reported yesterday that Schenectady mayor-elect Gary McCarthy has decided to draw his public pension while also receiving his $96,700 mayoral salary, McCarthy today sought to deflect some of the swelling double-dip criticism elsewhere.

To wit, the newly elected Democrat told The Daily Gazette: “They tell me (Albany Mayor) Jerry Jennings draws his teacher’s pension.”

Well, not so much.

“I don’t know where he gets his information from, but he’s wrong,” a miffed Jennings told me this morning.

Jennings said he hadn’t seen McCarthy’s quote but had heard about it from from aides who heard the remark discussed this morning on Talk 1300.

Public employees who draw their pensions and salaries at the same time — dubbed double dippers by some — have become an object of scorn in recent years among some fiscal conservatives and tax-weary New Yorkers.

Jennings, a five-term Democrat, spent two decades as an educator and administrator in Albany High School before he was first elected mayor in 1993. But Jennings said he has not yet begun collecting his pension.

McCarthy spent nearly 30 years in the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office as an investigator before he was elected last month by 89 votes over Alliance Party candidate Roger Hull.

Interestingly, after singling out Jennings, McCarthy then went on to argue that what he is doing isn’t nearly as bad as what others have done.

“The bigger scandal is people who are elected officials, serve their term, get re-elected, retire from office, get their pension, and then get sworn in for a new term and get their full salary,” he told the Gazette.

In other words, McCarthy was describing exactly the situation that Albany Assemblyman Jack McEneny was criticized for back in 2009.

*That is, if there were such a club.

Anyone who's surprised should be neutered or spayed, immediately.

His whole campaign was a lie. He lied about his knowledge of City pension padding. This time he lied about another DEM Mayor. There's the rub. It's all over the news. Mayor Jennings is right to be hot. ROTFLMAO!! Recall with honor.

Where are the DEM morons to support this "breath of fresh air in City Hall"? A total phony has been unmasked by the Times Union. Think Joe Biden has a college degree. Mayor Jennings is not taking his pension-he could but he has the good sense to wait until he is retired. One lying sock puppet is at the bull fights-one is stuffing his face at horrible Pettas- where's the rest of you? The brain dead Stockholm Syndrome victims have got themselves a Mayor. Take down your McCarthy sign and put up a For Sale By Moron sign.

Schenectady City Hall continues to be the bottom of the barrel. Talk 1300 and the TU can't stop laughing at the idiots that voted for this guy. Mayor Jennings will be talking about this on his show Friday. The saddest part was at the last Council meeting a couple of deranged dupes showed up to cheer these results. They obviously had "mental issues".

Most folks recognize the importance of networking.  Great, now we just lost a resource.  Jennings has been around quite some time and probably has lots to offer a newbieBut no, McCarthy really believes he is in control of the kingdom believing it encompasses the whole Capital District.  Boy, just what we need a bull in a china shop.

He meant to say Jack McNulty but blurted out Mayor Jennings. Mayor Jennings is mad and rightfully so. No one who has been paying attention can be surprised. He abuses taxpayers at the rail, he refuses to listen to other opinions, his campaign consisted of repeating the same lies about jobs and progress over and over. No wonder he got 3,000 less votes than Mayor Stratton. He makes Stratton look like Winston Churchill.
