Resignation of county chairman creates void and chance to rebuild

SCHENECTADY — The county Republican chairman has stepped aside to run for retiring state Supreme Court Justice Vincent Reilly Jr.'s seat, leaving an already struggling party without permanent leadership.

Jim Buhrmaster is a good man.  I wish him well.

Another day-another scoop for the Times Union. Jim Buhrmaster will be a great new REP chairman. He can work with third parties, raise money and recruit new candidates. Jim is the only REP on a 15 person County Legislature.  Thank God IND Vince Riggi breaks years of one party rule in the City. All old treaties and ways of doing business are null and void.

Thank goodness Savage took Burhmaster out of the IDA because of his 'older, white male' status...he's going to be one force to deal with as the REP chairman.

This is a VERY positive move for the party! Kudos!

I, like others here, will firmly stand behind WHOEVER runs against Buchanan for that seat.

Jim Buhrmaster is just the one to turn this mess around. He will be REP Chairman for many years. He has the fund raising ability, can work with third parties and will rebuild the REP town committees. This is the best news for democracy and the two party system in years. Don't be fooled by DVR's disinformation. DEMS wanted the current situation to continue. They like running unopposed or against unknown sacrificial lambs.

Mr. Buhrmaster is a very very nice man.

You know, I slept on this last night and am now wondering if Buhrmaster would be the appropriate one to fit the bill. We need someone with experience, but we also need someone that will get the youth of today, the new voters excited and active.  I just don't know if Buhrmaster will be able to do that. Nothing against him, but he's no spring chicken.

At least Mr. Buhrmaster is a decent and civilized  gentleman ---  his predecessor - "the person whose name we shall not speak" ran the party as if he were the demon spawn of satan.  

A decent gentlemen who your buddies threw off the County IDA because they are racist, sexist DEM morons. The days of the corrupt machine running against a blank slate are thankfully over. Look for a quick change in fortunes starting with the DEM stooge they pick to warm a City Council seat for a year,
