There are dozens of empty store fronts Downtown. Olender just added two more buildings to the huge list. Instead of lying about creating jobs Metrograft should list all the vacant business sites Downtown. Another classic is the old Trustco HQ which the DEM "leaders" had to buy for top dollar for new County Offices. Except there was no money so they keep the building off the tax rolls. No national retail wants anything to do with Metrograft/Downtown Schenectady. Family Dollar-maybe? RSM is decaying on its own and further example of the horrible business climate in this County. And yes they are closing unprofitable sites nationally but Friendly's, Auntie Ann's. McDonalds, Payless they all close in Schenectady County first.

on and on it goes....that's when you could call downtown a "menu" of business.....and yes, there were resturants....

That's when the City had bueiness and there were 3K jobs.....

There used to be a very good shoe store on Jay Street -- and a shoe repair shop someplace downtown.  I miss them both.

Back in the day............downtown had top of the line retail stores where most all products were made in America and were quality products. Today, all retail sucks. These foreign products are a piece of sh!t...imho!! Walmart was the FIRST offender that caught on rapidly. They all sell the same crap.The buildings just look different!

There are American made shoes like Alden and Johnson and Murphy. Quality costs more. There is no retail of any kind Downtown. Governmental gin mills-yes? Now the implosion has spread Countywide. The towns also support horrible politicians that "understand the importance of high taxes".

How ironic that Walmart (when Sam Walton was alive) used to push their advertising as selling nothing but American made goods. Greed changes many things!!!!!
