Government should create public works jobs

Isn’t it about time we reactivated the Civilian Conservation Corps [CCC] and Works Progress Administration [WPA]?
These “New Deal” initiatives were a lifeline for millions of hungry and homeless people. Most of the work completed by these groups still exists today — campgrounds, lakes, roads, electricity and sewage systems, maps, murals, etc.
If the Depression country of the 1930s could afford them, why can’t the wealthy country of today?

we dont have a depression.....we have the end of decadence......and the generation of "I work this hard so you dont have to" offspring......yay.....and a large chunk of aging population......

Well, Mr. Harris, that would be because of what you listed in your short, but to the point letter... the things that these people built at that time still exist, so there is no reason at this time to recruit people to build more of the same things... that are already there.

...and the fact is that the reason that we're having so many issues now is due to the costs of things in the new deal has built up to a point where it is just unsustainable.

Every American should be mandated to wreck their perfectly good house, then remodel their house...Sort of a private works program...That would have the same effect of senseless make work public works project.  The whole idea of taking money from one person in the economy and creating make work projects to give to others is a ridiculous solution to stimulate the economy.
