Campus cop admits drug charge
Suspended SUNY officer makes plea in case of pot-growing operation

ALBANY — A suspended State University of New York campus cop has pleaded guilty to federal charges that she and her husband conspired in the spring to grow marijuana plants at their Schenectady County home.

Wendy Knoebel, 49, appeared Thursday before senior federal Judge Frederick J. Scullin Jr.

"She has determined that given the nature of the facts, it would be in her best interest to enter into this plea," said her lawyer Dennis B. Schlenker of Albany.

Federal prosecutor Dan Hanlon said Knoebel and her husband, Kenneth, conspired to grow more than 100 pot plants that a joint drug task force confiscated from a pole barn in mid-May after raiding the couple's Suits Road home in Duanesburg. In August, the husband and wife were indicted on a felony charge of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana.

The judge explained Thursday that he would determine the appropriate punishment after reviewing Knoebel's conduct, background and listening to arguments from the prosecution and defense lawyers as well as taking into consideration all applicable federal statutes and sentencing guidelines.

The sentence will likely range from probation to 5 years, said Schlenker. Additionally, she could face a maximum fine of $4 million and post release supervision. Well, I am not surprised about anything I read these days....seems that we all have our skeletons....but some are worse than others

cheating and illegal activities from top to bottom....and who bought this "POT"....???  that's the another story...

probation is not enough....either make it legal...or stiffer sentences....pot is just a tip of the iceberg....more potent drugs are

being sold in this Town and area.....and most likely, alcohol is another big problem.....AND IS A DRUg OF CHOICE.

I support NO TOLERANCE for all drugs.....
