Union College revitalized the old Ramada Inn -- but took it OFF the tax rolls. It revitalized a bunch of houses on Seward Place --- but took them OFF the tax rolls.    This in turn means that EVERY OTHER property in the city will PAY HIGHER TAXES.

So what has Metroplex done Downtown?!?! Taking Marcella's, Proctors, MVP, Bombers and Paul Mitchell (that's just the tip of the iceburg) off the tax rolls...what the hell do you think THAT has done to the taxbase !! To boot, Metroplex gave millions of dollars in GRANT MONEY to these businesses.

At least Union used their own funds and didn't steal taxpayers money.

YOUR dems downtown took MOST of the downtown properties off the tax rolls PERMANENTLY.   100% tax exemptions with NO END DATE.

And THAT means taking -- STEALING -- money from the taxpayers' pockets-- the FINANCIALLY STRUGGLING homeowners.

Proctor's took Key Bank and every business in the arcade off the tax rolls. Proctor's took historic 440 State off the tax rolls then sold it to someone to knock it down. Proctor's refused to pay any PILOT including for the City pool program nor Stratton's Fair Share plan. Every taxpayer is paying more to support tax dodging Proctor's which includes millions in County and State handouts. The DEMS who control all of City Hall should have worked something out with Union for expansion beyond the fence. Shame on those DEM fiscal incompetents -not Union College which is a tremendous community asset.

Oh, come on Senders, the cost for SCCC didn't even change this year, even if the taxpayers gave an additional 11% last year (2011) over the previous year (2010).  For both 2011 and 2012, we are ONLY paying $2.03 MILLON DOLLARS IN TAXES to help the college keep it's head above water.

why does it have to 'keep it's head above water'?

because of clientel......

knowledge cost money and those in the electorate know that as do the private sector.....because 'the paper' (not life experience) gets you every where......an 'A' student carries the SAME paper as a 'D' student....(forgive my lingo on the grades)
just using an example.....

how to fix it?

shred the public school unions......FOLLOW THE $$ TRAIL

taking properties off the tax rolls permanently -- is taking money from the taxpayers' pockets

You mean you actually spoke the truth for once?   YES, DV, when properties are taken off the tax rolls permanently, yes the money must come from the taxpayers' pockets

Since that is a fact, then tell us DV, what are those dems doing downtown??????    Huh?    Got an answer???????

Since it has been proven by official records that most of all the new places downtown have been permanently removed from the tax rolls---via 100% tax exemptions with no end date---then, like you said, YOUR DEM BUDDIES ARE INDEED taking money from the taxpayers' pockets.    Isn't that right?\

And YOU are the one talking about shrines being built to those dems connected with downtown who are the ones who are---in YOUR words "taking money from the the taxpayers' pockets."

So, is it good that the taxpayers, the FINANCIALLY STRUGGLING HOMEOWNERS are having their money taken from them to pay the taxes of the millionaires downtown?    is that good?

How about looking at the list in yesterday's Gazette of real estate transactions in Schenectady counrty, the ones that are actually located within the city---the city that YOU CHEER for the homeowners to pay the taxes of all the millionaires downtown---those city houses are selling for very llittle --- obviously that means many that property values IN THE CITY OF SCHENECTADY CONTINUE to go down down down and down further.   DV, do you think it's proper that homeowners are forced to sell their homes at big loss?

Union College took them off the tax rolls PERMANENTLY ---    Marcella's, MVP, Bombers, and Paul Mitchell are only receiving a TEMPORARY exemption which gradually phases out -- IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERMANENT AND TEMPORARY I SUGGEST THAT YOU STOP POSTING UNTIL YOU GET A REMEDIAL EDUCATION.

Some have never ending tax exemptions. What Bombers and Proctor's are paying is peanuts. Proctor's took Key Bank PERMANENTLY off the City tax rolls. Stop blaming 37 years of DEM fiscal mismanagement on Union College. The problem is not the College it is DEM confiscatory over taxation. So what do the DEM morons do? Move traffic officers to tax collectors, take over foreclosures {because no private company wants to deal with these idiots} and raise taxes and fees 7% in a recession. You can't make it up. Then they term this "progress".

YOU, DV, YOU do NOT understand the difference between permanent and temporary !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     Bombers has a PERMANENT exemption!!!!
Uh, your PRECIOUS SOCIALIST Bombers

I DEFY you to circle the end date in the OFFICIAL record.    You see, I always provide proof.   We are STILL waiting for you to provide one teeny weeny shred of proof from the FBI website that you wrote about a year ago.   Still waiting for proof of your comments about that fire on Eastern & McClellan last year.   Still waiting for you to provide proof that the county has lowered county tax bills even once.

Marcellas too.....while the homeonwers have no money to fix their code violatioons and then are financially penalized on top of that, your precious Marcella's get's tons of taxpayers' money to build a fancy new place and then get's a VERY VERY GENEROUS tax exemption, even though not permanent.   let's see what happens when the exemption end date arrives.

Oh of course DV will babble about Marcella's bring in sales tax.   ROFL!    Just be sure DV that you acknowledge the FACT that Marcella's DOES NOT bring any more sales tax to Schenectady than it would have if it stayed on Crane St or moved to another county....because sales tax is determined AND PAID to the county in which the customer LIVES!!!!!
