{TU}The highly rated Union College Hockey team will play Harvard University at historic Fenway Park, Boston. January 13th-7pm. The game is part of the Sun Life Frozen Fenway 2012 hockey event that will also feature Boston College Eagles and Northeastern University. Union College will be the only non-Boston area team to skate at this event. "I am truly thrilled for this opportunity, in many ways" stated Jim McLaughlin, Union College Director of Athletics. |

A hearty congratulations go out to these fine young men..... It would be thrilling to see them succeed as I am always rooting for young men to show their stripes and come back to Schenectady victorious - no matter what LOCAL team they represent. |

This is a great honor for Union College. It will give the college national publicity and help recruitment for years. You can't buy the press this will generate. The outdoor hockey games are great and give the NHL their highest ratings every year. See yous there. |

The Union Hockey team is great .. wish them well. Hopefully - next year they will be able to play in a REAL Baseball Stadium --- like Yankee Stadium --- and not a wannabe baseball stadium like Fenway Park. |

Another idiotic remark. No shortage of those here. Real baseball fans understand that Fenway and Wrigley are baseball cathedrals. Fenway Park which opened in 1912 is major league baseball's oldest ballpark. A great honor for a fine college in little old Schenectady to be part of this historic event. The only non-Boston team invited. Bravo to the Athletic Director and all those at Union College that made this a reality. Let's see a huge turnout for Schenectady's team. |

That WAS an idiotic remark. Fenway! What a great place for these players to have their game! I wonder how hard it will be to get tickets? I'd like to goto this. |

It's even more idiotic coming from an alleged town historian. He came out against the destruction of the IOOF temple they day after his DEMS sold out. |

Playing a hockey game in Yankee Stadium would be mean playing in the same stadium that the greatest baseball team in the world plays in ---- Fenway Park will never be home to the greatest baseball team in the world. |

This could be the biggest sporting event in the long history of Union College. Bravo to all that made it happen. Hope to see many alumni and residents at historic Fenway Park on a cold winter day. |

Find it so ironic that during the McCarthy/Hull election, the DEMS pointed their scrawny fingers at Union and said,
"Look, they don't pay taxes, Seward is tax exempt and it (Union) is a burden to the City taxbase"....
Now the hockey team is golden and everyone is proud of THEIR LOCAL team. Guess what, get back on your garbage trucks and keep going....... |

No college pays any taxes. The whole thing was a load to distract from DEM fiscal incompetence. Proctor's-GREAT! Union-BAD! Only Union paid a PILOT and revitalized College Park. One dupe was told that Golub would get involved in City Hall. That was apparently a negative. Union College is a tremendous community asset and this will be a great event for everyone to enjoy. |

Union College revitalized the old Ramada Inn -- but took it OFF the tax rolls. It revitalized a bunch of houses on Seward Place --- but took them OFF the tax rolls. This in turn means that EVERY OTHER property in the city will PAY HIGHER TAXES.

Playing a hockey game in Yankee Stadium would be mean playing in the same stadium that the greatest baseball team in the world plays in ---- Fenway Park will never be home to the greatest baseball team in the world.
DV, Yeah, Yankees are good, however, the stadium where the greatest games were played is no more. It's gone. THE Yankee Stadium, where the greatest games took place is gone. Now, a new stadium has been built, via robbing the taxpayers of their money, so I guess you can explain WHY, with the incredible wealth of the Yankees that the taxpayers pockets had to be forcibly raided to build a new stadium and you can explain WHY even just one hot dog costs more than a whole package of good name brand hot dogs? Wouldn't you agree that since the taxpayers had to pay a good chunk of it that the should get hot dogs for free? Again, you do not, never have, and never will have a wife and children to enjoy going to a game with. Today, it is financially out of reach of a dad, a mom, and a couple kids. Unless you want to go on a bus trip with your tickets and then not even so much has have a drink of water. It's the socialist baseball stadium. Don't get me wrong, I like baseball, I like the Yankees, but NEVER should one penny of tax dollars been given to an organization that had more than enough money to fund every bit of the new stadium |
