Taxes UNDER $10,000 and the house is $800,000!!!!!!!!

Saratoga beats Schenectady beyond anyone's wildest imagination.   Of course, Saratoga doesn't tax the homeowners to death, Saratoga doesn't steal from the taxpayers to fund and cover taxes for government hotels, government theaters, government bakeries, government retaurants (that go bankrupt and then get bailed out by the taxpayers) government appliance stores, government gin mills, etc.   So Saratoga THRIVES

Oh, but they have to travel a long distance to see a show at Proctors.  Thats why the taxes are lower.  No entertainment.

Saratoga County really is overrated  -- it is WAAAAAY down on the list of places that I would ever choose to live in.

Saratoga has vacant buildings and bad spots, too.

It is NOT one of the counties that I would ever choose to live in.

I remember Saratoga's downtown in decline.  It's business men and politicians invested (as with Schdy's Proctors) in the cities
history, it's old buildings, and it's commerce.
Saratoga like Schenectady has a 'cash cow' of being a college town... only Saratoga promotes it's city, while this board only
drags Schdy through the mud.

Saratoga's largest asset is it's Race Tracks which bring millions each year to support it's year round population.

Low taxes and plenty of people living in the area sustain the businesses and yes the race track brings in huge amounts of money into Saratoga during the racing season.

as Schenectady cleans/purges itself of the 'element', it becomes a disease to the surrounding towns......we need to stop feeding the 'element'.....

If it's overrated, please explain why property values increase and taxes are low and homebuyers flock there in HUGE numbers

It's overrated they don't have uneducated DEM morons raping the taxpayers. While cooking the books and lying about job creation. Both Skidmore and Union are very small colleges. Saratoga has a nationwide reputation and not for cockroaches. The City moron voters just elected another Proctor's stooge who sounds like DVR on taxes. Schenectady COUNTY taxes are 4X Saratoga County-and they aren't building a new nursing home. That won't cost a penny? lol. One major difference you can actually buy shoes, clothes or a mop in Saratoga. Apples at the Green Market don't generate sales taxes.

they are trying to 'generate community'.....difficult to do since society has changed it's focus from churches(believe or not) and have gone to 'civil churches'...fine but the poison is in who is the
civil leader?......same as the birth and evolution of the church of England AND the ROMAN Catholic church...both political machines.....the constitution allows for personal freedom which in turn
makes corporations 'people' with rights and also unions with rights which in turn attach to the backs of the plebs via the constitution.....we have forgotten

occupy doesn't understand this.....let's hope they keep the stale bread of the public unions off the table or atleast demand their gutting........

Quoted Text
The Golden Calf as polemical allegory

The Golden Calf story is an alternate tradition, and the material in Exodus Chapter 24 is contradictory. The former contains references to animal sacrifices, Levites, priestly rites of purification and ablution, concerns about seeing God and dying, and most notably, a reference to a golden calf, all of which date the material to a time after the institution of Levitical law and placing the material in a time after the period of the divided Kingdoms. Aaron made one calf but then is made to say 'gods' (plural) to repeat the words Jeroboam used when ordaining the calf idol religious centers.

How stupid could Jeroboam have been to make calves and then use the very words that Aaron used to ordain the calf centers, when it was well known, even the motivating factor that the reason for the institution of the calf centers was because the people remained fiercely loyal to their previous traditions? Jeroboam said to himself, "they will kill me." He could not have then been stupid enough to make two calves, for then the people would have killed him, if we assume that the calf stories were known in that day.

The story of the Golden Calf and the surrounding material is not historical, but rather is a polemic. The readers who were contemporary with the parable would have understood exactly what the point of the story was. The writer is posing a question, and answering it: what would Moses would have done, if he was alive to see those people kissing the calves? That a group of priestly, discontented Levites wrote the story is also demonstrated by the priestly concerns embedded in the narrative, as I noted above, and there is also an implied threat in that the people will 'drink bitter waters,' waters contaminated with ground up calf idol.
