Downtown Schenectady is not safe AND it is not pedestrian friendly.

Who was watching this camera....ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Main intersection, Downtown and no camera to videotape the scumbag who killed this young girl (she's a girl...not even 20) and took off?!?!

This City should be ashamed.

Opportunity?! Are you that demented?

You explain to that girl's family that no one manned the cameras yesterday...or maybe that camera is a decoy...maybe it doesn't even work. That's negligence and incompetence.

Then again, we all know where all the money goes to in the department - the padding pensions and salaries of the elitist. Ask the officers - even they cried foul.

Go back and find this story buried in the Gazetto......

A 19 year old woman was killed by some hit and run bastard at State and Erie last night. More scum of the Earth, driving like maniacal savages in Schenectady. Crossing the street is a life and death matter these days. Sick.

last week you claimed half of the one hundred cameras were decoys.  untrue

second how do you even know there was a camera in the vicinity of the accident.

padding pensions. really. the asst chief positions are salaried. they retire on salary not ot and they replaced tge captain positions who were hourly employees who could pad their pensions. the latest revisions were done to elinate the expensive payouts which by the eay were not pensionable

the camera network is being expanded to catch more of these crimes in progress once it occurs they can review the footage immediately. whether someone was watching this when it happened would not have changed a thing

Don't worry- the politicop spokesman just told you all is well with the liberal democraps running everything. Sleep tight tonight in the city. He has debunked the notion it is all a hot mess about to be bankrupt.

But you cheerlead for the left wing democraps...so hard to determine. Maybe we need a detective like Sherlock Holmes to figure it out. How do you sit in the same room on election night with people who send money to the ACLU and Mummia Abu Jamal's (the copkiller) defense fund? How do you go to bat for people who will give the NYC Democraps the NYS Senate so they can reduce prison sentences and make sure we never have a death penalty ever again, even for first degree murder of children? Because of your contract benefits.

Sell out.

Past City Council meetings have indicated how dangerous Erir Blvd is...

Residents have complained over and over again......

I would think that would be the first place a camera would be installed....all along Erie Blvd for that matter.

But the cameras get priority in the Hill , etc., places....and still the shootings and perps get away with it.

The City needs more safety for the residents....Mcc is a dud.

Was just down at the scene. There were two sheriffs vehicles there as well.

By the way, there ARE two cameras at the scene....BUT, one is at the Bangkok Bistro corner, pointed down State Street going towards KFC.

The other camera is in front of New Choices pointed down Erie towards the empty Trustco parking lot.

Nothing pointed at the busy intersection. Two camera and even if they do work, they're not even looking at one of the busiest intersections of the entire City.

By the way Visitors, the high brass in the dept received a $5,000 raise this year. NO ONE should be getting a raise until the officers receive the basics they need(training, tasers, etc)....

How sad for the family. What a tragedy for sure!
It's just another useless murder in the city.

rachel

if you were such an expert you would know the cameras that do exist are on patrol.  some of the cameras are fixed but the vast majority are on patrol which means they change direction.  if a camera is inop it is because it is temporarily out of service. they are serviced regularly and even have funds budgeted for repairs

with respect to training the officers receiceive on average thirty hours of in service training per year.  you keep spouting off about training and dont even know how much training they do get.  regarding tasers you were aware the police partment has been attempting to get tasers since approx 2007. they could not get approval from city hall.
had they gotten approval when they initially requested it everyone would have been trained by now

oh and by the way the inservice training does not include the forty hours of supervisory training the suerpvisors have gotten for the past

re the asst chiefs they had not gotten a raise in a while because they are non union and do have interest arbitartion
