Wow, wonder why people have a bad perception of the Renaissance City? Two shootings in one weekend. Yeah, that's progress.......

What did the cameras reveal? lol. Don't say Another Shooting you must give the date and neighborhood. And these are just the reported shootings. Feel sorry for the 49.9% clinically brain dead that voted for McCarthy.

Typical happening of a renaissance. All wonderful and decent middle class people who just need to be understood and assisted.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

And make sure they vote. In this renaissance we close the churches. The implosion of Schenectady continues. Did you hear about the new coffeehouse at Proctor's? lol.

SCHENECTADY -- A man was shot in the leg through his car door Sunday morning, the second shooting in the city since Saturday morning.

Police Lt. Mark McCracken said a man was stopped waiting to make a turn at the corner of Albany and Hulett streets around 11 a.m. Sunday when his vehicle was shot at twice. One bullet went through the door and entered the man's lower right leg.

Woodlawn has also been ignored by the corrupt machine. Many abandoned/rented houses. They are not considered part of the City. Don't need a Public Safety Commissioner. Don't need more unmanned cameras. Need beat cops and neighborhood substations. Need boots on the ground and a new leadership that ends gang violence.

It's past time to return to police substations in the crime ridden areas of the city.  Additionally, foot/bike/horse patrols in good weather are needed
to establish a presence in these areas.  One or two drive through patrols a day is not effective at inhibiting criminal activity.

Schenectady has turned into a safe-haven for criminals and in-your-face criminal activity.

They are practically free to roam the streets, congregate outside bars in residential neighborhoods at 5 am, shoot at vehicles at 11 am on a Sunday morning (ps: the Stockade Run had passed near this location only hours prior to the shooting) and violate leash laws with pitbulls. It has become EASY to be a menace to society in Schenectady...because they are becoming more powerful than the police.

When criminals own the streets, we, as a society are all put in danger. I'll say this again, Downtown is NOT A SAFE AREA...never was and will never be until beat cops come back. Not a drive by officer, not the bike cops, beat cops. Vagrants line the streets, criminals run the Hill and they are infiltrating MP, Bellevue and the Stockade.

Cameras aren't helping, a $350K survey will not help...the current leadership of the department is not helping.

Schenectady has crime-- but it certainly is not as bad as it is in other similar sized cities in the Northeast or even in larger cities across the country.

Someone posted that Schenectady is as bad a Baltimore --- having lived in Baltimore for 4 years .. I would say that Baltimore is actually a rather pleasant city to live in with crime in certain pockets or neighborhoods of the city.   In the 4 years that I lived there, I never felt threatened or ever became a victim of crime.   The fact is that the only time im my life that I ever was a crime victim -- was when I was mugged about 30 years ago at Clifton Country Mall.

All in all -- life is what you make of it -- the nayboobs choose to live in the squalor of negativity and darkness .-- I choose to live in the bright light of optimism and positive energy.    Schenectady County is still an AWESOME place to live  ----  and it keeps getting better every year.

Ask anyone if, after the two shootings this weekend, they would find Schenectady 'a nice place to live"?

Give it up DV. We do not make or break the reputation of the City. Rather, the shootings every weekend, the poor performances of our schools, the high property and school taxes, the massive amounts of graffiti and trash lining the streets which result in the MASSIVE amount of negative publicity create the reputation of the City.

Granted, we cannot stop crime from happening, but the news generated from the daily happenings in this City has earned us a detrimental reputation which will not be easily forgotten.

We were at the donut shop this a.m. and did a quick glance at at the gazetto. To our surprise(NOT) the shootings were buried only to be fluffed over by the front page Stockade race and other 'feel good' reporting.

I wanted Bennett to succeed, he's been given a chance, he made some improvements as far as getting rid of the worst cops, but this is not working! If it doesn't work do something else! Part of the problem I believe is how well can you know what's going on in a city you don't live in? That's part of the problem with the coverage in the media too. The TU I believe reported the bar where the shooting was as being in Bellevue. How can distant outsiders shed any light on a problem toward a solution?
Our city idiots think that you can just put some new bricks here and there and the problem will take care of itself. Doesn't work, hasn't worked, will never work. How about holding our "popular" governor's feet to the fire? Why should NYS residents have to abandon their homes and move to the suburbs to get away from these crime dumps?
Should not the police be aware of these scuzzy bars which I am sure are not compliant with New York's myriad regulations for that type of business, and drive past if not stop in, at closing to be sure everyone gets out and goes home? That whole neighborhood has just been written off. I could see homes that didn't look too bad near the bar on tv. Imagine if that were your home?!
One more thing - is it not true racism to expect black or brown people to put up with this kind of thing right in their midst? Denial of equal protection under the law.
