Excerpt from the Times Union (last sentence):
Quoted Text
The Rotterdam and Glenville Police Departments have assisted on the case.
Huh? Why? Did the socialist dems cut the staffing on the Schenectady PD in order to give money to the millionaires downtown? Or were people involved residents of the two towns? |

I'm thinking 5th Ave is not the great place to be at 5am in the morning. Interesting that the news article said there was a crowd at 5am.... |

Man dies of bullet wound Two others hit by gunfire; witnesses told police shots that hit 3 came from an SUV By LEIGH HORNBECK, Staff writer Updated 09:18 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2011
SCHENECTADY -- A man died Saturday after he was struck by a bullet police said was fired from a passing car in front of a Fifth Avenue bar.
Rashad Robinson, 23, was one of three men shot just after 5 a.m. Robinson, who was hit in the torso, was pronounced dead at Ellis Hospital. Another 23-year-old man from Schenectady and a 28-year-old man from Rotterdam each suffered bullet wounds to their extremities. The men were treated at local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said witnesses reported seeing the passenger of an SUV fire at a crowd in front of Joe's Bar at 1306 Fifth Ave. No arrests had been made as of Saturday evening.
Kiesha Smith added to a memorial for Robinson on the sidewalk where she was told he fell after he ran a short distance from the bar. About a dozen devotional candles stood on the sidewalk next to R.I.P. messages written with markers. Robinson, better known as "Twin" because he had a twin brother, was a "gentleman who tried to keep kids out of trouble and off the street," Smith said.
"There's nothing out here for these kids. Selling drugs is not what they want to do, but there's nothing out here for them," Smith said. "I have five kids; two of them are boys, and I worry about them every day. They go out the door and you don't know if they're coming home again."
Often the street fights aren't over "something they did," but because someone is jealous about something, Smith said, and kids as young as 14 and 15 carry guns.
As the sun went down Saturday, detectives could be seen studying the section of the street between the bar and the VFW Post 357 across from it. The area was roped off by yellow police tape. Children played ball within sight of the crime scene. Fifth Avenue is a narrow, one-way street in the Bellevue neighborhood. The bar is the exception among two-story houses.
The police are encouraging anyone who may have information to come forward.
Times Union archives show a Rashad Robinson, 19, was shot in the leg on March 28, 2007, at the corner of Delamont Avenue and Hulett Street. Police could not confirm if it was the same man who died Saturday.
When asked if Robinson had been arrested in the past, Lt. Mark McCracken said he would not release Robinson's criminal record.............>>>..............>>>>...................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Man-dies-of-bullet-wound-2265642.php#ixzz1dYFJXZnb

Or is it stop serving alcoholic drinks at 2 a.m. maybe? |

Great article. Kids have nothing else to do so they sell drugs. This guy "Twin" was a "roll model" shot for the second time in 4 years. WOW. |

Hope those metal detectors ARE working in the high school.
Knowing that 14 year olds are carrying guns and could bring them into a school like the King and Central Park where there are kindergarteners through 8th graders? Maybe the detectors will be needed at those locations too.
Personally, I knew a student who was being bullied in Oneida Middle School and he was bringing a knife everyday in his backback...
Doesn't seem like this situation will be addressed .....until something horrible happens.
Again, Schenectady is a knee-jerk-reaction City, not doing anything until FORCED to. |

Nah, not in Bellevue ... couldn't be.
I got an idea - let's put another adult bookstore in the area, it won't attract any problems.

"I am very happy with how things are going so I voted in the democrat incumbents. They all need a round of applause and another few terms to get the job done" ...yep, I'm smart...
Thank God we have a self described law enforcement "expert" as temporary acting Mayor. The DEM solution to everything-more unmanned cameras! Can Roger Hull be sworn in by Thanksgiving? Mt Pleasant can't wait. |

would a camera have prevented the shooting? maybe it would be able to be used for identification...but these folks don't care....they live and breathe the 'corrections' given them by the system....mothers/fathers/sisters/brothers and have this in their history so it's 'normal'.....I'm not feeling sorry for them but when the only other alternative is to be waitstaff for pennies.....they run the streets with promise of larger incomes...and you cant be waitstaff without refined social skills..
working in healthcare it is difficult to find folks with 1/2 the social skills/filters necessary for the service industry,,,especially for the pitance in pay..... |

Unmanned cameras trick a few more morons to vote straight DEM. No one should be on the streets at 5am but that's no reason to be murdered. Schenectady is an dangerous, poor, former industrial city with too many young people without hope. Lying about job creation or polishing a turd Downtown changes nothing. There is no economic opportunity. Where are the minority owned small businesses? A golden theatre surrounding by slums, decaying churches and businesses. |

Performance based compensation is the only way to go with the police. Match pay with performance and you will see results. Also how about a reward for snitches program. Could set it up like a miles program. So many tips get so many rewards. Tax reductions. Cash. How about a grant to pay for IP cameras for citizens where the feeds are shared on a citizen watched website? |

Just keep voting those 'self serving, unaccomplished' democops into office and everyone will continue to see this being played out over and over and over again.
while they boast about proctors and a 2 block section of the city, the social climate has been taking a nose dive. Neighborhoods are decaying.....one neighborhood at a time. The decay has taken over just about all of the city which is now spilling over into the surrounding towns/villages.
The cost of welfare/section 8 benefits along with the lost revenue of vacant properties, along with school taxes that provide no positive results, to an over compensated failed police force, to a failing infrastructure, to increased crime, to too many public sector jobs, to the 'friends and family club'.............the city is just about tapped out!! They can't afford this created dumbed down society any longer.
It appears that while Nero was fiddling.......the electorate was sleeping.......yes?
For those 'smart' enough....MOVE OUT!! For those who want to stay.....GET A GUN FOR PROTECTION!!! |
