You don't try and disarm a knife wielding suspect in close proximity with a night stick.  And, if you use pepper spray in an enclosed space it will effect everyone within that closed space.  And, it may just enrage the suspect if ineffec tive and make him lash out with the knife.  Suspect at Gazette apparently lunged at officers when they went to open door to allow officer in with taser.

I correctly or incorrectly seem to recall mention of a video of the incident that took place at the GAZETTE.   Anyone with any knowledge of it?   And if so who was privy to it's contents.   It would sure clear up any "misunderstandings" one way or the other of the incident that went down on that day and end all the speculation.

Anyone out there ever hear of a type of ultra stickey goop that is being used by law enforcement to render perpetrators instantly immobile?   It is discharged from some form of firepower and is very heavy and, as stated, ultra stickey.   Kind of acts like velcro but cannot free yourself once it bonds to a body part that comes in contact with any other area of the body that possesses the material.

TOWN OF AMSTERDAM - A 26-year-old man was shocked twice with a Taser Thursday before he wrestled it away from a sheriff's deputy and then using it on the deputy, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Daniel A. Jackowski was charged with felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing a police officer and several misdemeanors after the 10:22 p.m. incident at his Route 67 home.

Deputies said they went to his home to investigate a complaint of loud noise. When Deputy Richard Christiano arrived at the house, Jackowski pointed a 30.06 rifle at him, according to the sheriff's department.

I remember seeing something like that years ago but it never really caught on do to the size of the system, it sorta looked like a flamethrower, backpack and all.

Visitor, I didn't misunderstand your post as much as I took it the wrong way. It could be construed as being sarcastic, and since you didn't mean it that way I apologize. I try to have reasonable discussions to reach a fuller understanding but this is a touchy issue. We Schenectadians have dealt with a subpar and arrogant police force for decades. It is still not right. We pay enough to get good people. Many of the cops if not most ARE good people. The incident in question shows that we still lack quality level training and leadership. Why? This is literally a life and death issue. If we don't discuss what wentwrong it will never be fixed, and it is not good enough. That "you can't understand what it's like for the boys in blue" stuff which cops and friends of cops try to use to shut down discussion provides a smokescreen for incompetence and corruption. We've had the criminals that NYC was sick of dumped in this city. We can't survive with a Keystone Cop force.
