City administrator heading to town Paolino leaving job in Schenectady to help new Rotterdam leadership By PAUL NELSON, Staff writer Updated 09:20 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2011 SCHENECTADY — John Paolino is leaving his job as the city's director of administration to play a key role in helping Rotterdam get its financial house in order, according to political leaders in both communities.
Schenectady Mayor-elect Gary McCarthy said Thursday that Paolino will not be returning after his contract as a consultant with the city expires at year's end but has volunteered to assist the city on fiscal matters for free.
McCarthy said Paolino told him he plans to devote his energies and expertise to helping his hometown of Rotterdam. Paolino did not Thursday return a call seeking comment.
Supervisor-elect Harry Buffardi, however, confirmed that Paolino will join his administration on a part-time basis as an hourly consultant after they negotiate a deal in the new year. Specifically, Paolino will assist Jacqueline Every, whom Buffardi plans to elevate to the comptroller job. Additionally, Paolino will help the municipality craft a 5-year financial plan, a campaign pledge Buffardi made.
Paolino, a Democrat, served two 2-year terms as Rotterdam town supervisor from 2001 to 2005.
Buffardi, a former Schenectady County sheriff-turned-college-professor defeated Francis Del Gallo in November.
For years, Paolino, 69, was a trusted confidant, primarily on financial matters, in the administration of former Mayor Brian U. Stratton who left for a state job earlier this year.........................>>>>.................>>>>................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/City-administrator-heading-to-town-2405304.php#ixzz1gglgti9M

Great news! The City's gain is the towns loss. PREDICTION: With Paulino, the new town jerk and all DEM moron town bored Rotterdam will quickly move up the highest taxed list in the region. 10th is not high enough. Probably right after the horrible City and double taxed Scotia in a strong third worst position. |

Per the Town's website, she is the "bookkeeper." See thru NY indicates that her current annual salary is in the mid 40's. |

John Paolino is an awesome addition to the Re-Unite Rotterdam Team. He will give us a good, clear 5-year plan. BTW -- When Mr. Paolino left office in 2005, he had a 5-year plan in place which if followed would have put us in a much better place than we are today fiscally. Unfortunately, the Tommasone and Merts "wrecking crew" did not believe in planning - much less a 5-year plan - drove Rotterdam's financial situation over the cliff.
At least now, we have an opportunity to get back on track to fiscal good health again. |

The "reval" only caused your taxes to go up if your property was UNDERVALUED before the revaluation took place. |

Lets see who would be most affected by the REVAL, ah yes the poor frail seniors living on Social Security that bought their homes 50 years ago now see their taxes go through the roof. The poor frail seniors that DV is always trying to protect just got screwed by the REVAL and the man behind it all fled to Schenectady to a nice cushy job and the increase in county revenue just happened to help out in his new job. |

Oh what a genius. Stealing money from special districts to cover payroll. Any financial genius would do that! |

It is a basic fact -- a simple fact -- mathematically proven -- and 100% guaranteed to be true 100% of the time ---- Everything else being equal, your taxes would only go up after a reval --- is if your property was undervalued on the property tax roll BEFORE the reval.
Tax rate = Total Taxing District/Area Spending divided by (Total Taxing District/Area Property Value divided by 1,000)
Tommasone and Mertz just blamed the reval for the tax increases caused by their reckless spending. |
