All his pizza posts are like that. Hold the pepperoni! McCarthy lost 1,753 jobs and lied about it. Not to mention what he pulls down with his public sector "work".
no proof? lol. check the tax base around union college... there are more buildings off tax rolls than there are projects with PILOTs that metroplex gave to buildings downtown... hmmm.. let's compare, shall we?
Yeah, sure, go ahead and check the tax base around Union College. Let's see. You have the old DSS building, which is now closed and not being used for anything, that wouldn't be on the tax rolls. Then, you have Neil and Mona (the Golub's) bringing their palace down onto Nott St., and not only not paying taxes on it, but pulling those jobs right out of the town of Rotterdam at the same time. How much are they paying in taxes on that? Oh, but when they did build that, they did take out the gas station that was sitting there, paying taxes and collecting sales tax revenue from any sales that they were making. And then you have that other horrible non-profit right up the road, Ellis Hospital, who is supposed to be doing so much better since the state mandated they merge with St. Clare's and Bellevue. How are the finances doing there? How much of an increased tax base is that?
Without Unions action, the Ramada would have taken the same demise as the Brandywine school or GE buildings It would either fall down, burn down or the hotel company itself would be forced to tear it down due to the taxes. The fact is that the whole lower Union and Nott street area wouldnt look as good as it does today if it werent for Union College's investment. They did the City of Schenectady a favor by taking them off the rolls. Otherwise they would have to add them to the list of properties already on the list to be demolished.

Maybe Union College just should have built a few towers on campus to house the students. Take all the students and put them on campus and on meal plans. That would have been so much better for the city.
That is exactly what RPI is doing in Troy. Built a few giant towers and decimated the rental market in Troy. That would have been better right?

No, the City Council and Stratton knew NOTHING of the Union/Seward/Ramada expansions. The County Leg and Stratton touting 'working together works' while Galesi was foaming at the mouth for a chance at the renovations....no, that never happened.
No, McCarthy was totally oblivious to it...guess he's REALLY oblivious to the sorry state of the City too.
Maybe he should take another ride on that garbage truck to MP and see what he and the Council have 'accomplished'.
Hey, its only $8 million. If that police cheif who retired at 47 making $96,000 a year lives to 87, he'll cost us $4 million. Happens yearly.

Oh, almost forgot the $25,000 in medical benefits that we Schenectadians will pay per year.......another couple of million when counting the healthcare cost increases.

Wow. Did u read that information about Hull and his removal of $8 million from city coffers? Guess he not only did not create jobs, but he weakened the tax base.
Uh, the total assessed value of ALL the houses that the college bought does NOT even equal $8 million, so therefore, mathematically what you claim is impossible.
I didn't support that he took so many houses off the tax rolls, BUT, the college paid MILLIONS with THE COLLEGE's money, NOT the taxpayrs money for the project it did.
Now, downtown, on the other hand, is a bunch of FOR PROFIT businesses, owned by millionaires and billioniares, and the projects downtown were LARGELY paid with TAXPAYER dollars, AND on top of that these are FOR PROFIT businesses (including Proctors because that CLEARLY IS 1,000% A FOR PROFIT BUSINESS), and these busineses some have wealth equal to the total city budget, and yet despite all that wealth it is costing the city MILLIONS, i.e, costing THE TAXPAYERS millions
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

"Seward Streetscape: The City is developing the design and will fund the Seward Place streetscape project. Infrastructure work will begin this fall-storm sewers, water lines, etc. Spring/summer 2000 completion expected with dual sidewalks, historic lighting, crosswalks, etc."
Guess McCarthy missed that Council meeting when the City agreed to pay for all this.
