Candidates behind on finance reports Some in Schenectady County races haven't made state cash filings By LAUREN STANFORTH Staff writer Published 12:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2011
SCHENECTADY -- A handful of candidates for Schenectady County races next month -- including some well-known incumbents -- have not filed their most recent campaign finance reports to the state Board of Elections. But a few of them said they're in compliance with the rules because they had not collected campaign contributions from other people.
There are no reports for this election from one-time Republican congressional candidate and County Legislator Jim Buhrmaster, Democratic legislative Majority Leader Gary Hughes and Democratic County Legislator Michael Petta.
The Times Union could find no finance reports since 2007 on the state Board of Elections' financial disclosure website for Democratic City Councilwoman Denise Brucker.
County Democratic Chairman Brian Quail said he wasn't aware of the details of his party's candidates' finances, but said there often are various reasons why a report would not be there, including candidates not getting donations before the most recent Oct. 3 filing deadline. Also, he said, their signs or mailers could be paid for by a city or county party committee.
Schenectady City Democratic Chairman Richard Naylor said he knows Brucker has been raising funds, but he did not know why her name does not appear on the state elections board's campaign finance site. Brucker could not be reached for comment. She and three other Democrats are facing five opponents next month for four open seats on the council.
Buhrmaster last filed a campaign finance report in January 2010, when he had $53 on hand. He said Monday he hadn't had time to fundraise before October because of needs at his heating business and delays due to Tropical Storm Irene's flooding. He said signs he has up are from prior campaigns. The incumbent is running in a contested race with fellow Republican Michael Dieterich against Democrats Tom Constantine and Cathryn Bern-Smith. Two seats are up.
Hughes last filed in July, when he reported $3,449 on hand. He is running with Democrat Jeff McDonald against Republican Patricia Zollinger, both of whom have reported their finances. Hughes said his treasurer has not filed the necessary documents because of recent surgery, but that the website will be updated soon. Hughes said he's raised $1,465 since his summer filing.
Petta, who is in a County Legislature race, hasn't filed campaign reports since July 2009, according to the website. On Monday, Petta expressed surprise, saying "I'm running this year, aren't I?" and that the county Democratic committee is in charge of his filings........................>>>>...................>>>>.....................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....43.php#ixzz1b7w5AE40
I am not surprised Gary Hughes hasn't filed. Former School Bored member Gary Hughes and Denise Brucker have not filed ANYTHING. You would think that these DEM fossils would have a treasurer and committee in place by now. Like 8 years ago. Denise Brucker could not be reached for comment -lol. Phone service to the bunker has been disconnected for lack of payment?

They all must be walking on hot coals for the first time in a decade! Not to mention, they can't be that blind to not see the obvious decline of the city/area under their watch.

Now if these were all Rotterdam Republicans then I bet someone might really be pitching the b!tch! Then we could say "Shoo...go away Troll!"
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

This is been going on for years. Need an opponent to flush it out. First City DEM morons ignore Federal law on affirmative action. Now they ignore State filing requirements. Denise Brucker's fund raisers didn't do too good. The funniest is Gary Hughes who blames it all on his nonexistent campaign treasurer. Then City "leader" Dick Naylor throws Denise Brucker under the bus saying she did raise money. In any other City resignations would be falling like fall leaves. Not Schenectady --it's called moron progress.
Isn't he the 'old, grey haired white man' that wasn't 'diverse' enough for Susan Savage? Check back through the gazetto archives. I'm sure you can find the story there.

Jim Buhrmaster is a nice guy. I have voted for him.
