$40,000 was not the total taxpayer giveaway. Are they going to pay full assessment? lol. 40 jobs will be created like McCarthy created 4,000 private sector Downtown jobs or how the Proctor's arcade jewelery store {now closed} will create 10 new jobs. DEMS love to exaggerate job creation and minimize tax creation.

Simply an 'expectation' of 40 new jobs by 2013 is not quite worthy of a $40K investment up front. Business might dictate 1/2 now and 1/2 if and the new jobs come to fruition.

Also, this $40K should have been in the form of a loan - absolutely NOT a grant. We have to stop giving away Schenectady taxpayer money....it needs to be paid back.

Ron is getting a free handbag, to compliment his outfit when he becomes Gertie. When he is out on a a date with the Police Chief, or the head of the seniors and his other boyfriends, they can all compliment each other on how nice they look!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Democrat flea baggers would rather give away $40K of taxpayer money, and create more government debt that can be bought by the Communist Chinese.

GE is the company creating a $600 million solar panel company and will be getting all the materials from China.

Fact is, when the government - at ANY level - starts funding or bailing out businesses, it really never works. The recently bankrupt solar company the feds spent $535 million to bail out...failed.

Each time the Metroplex tries to lure a company to Schenectady is a failure for every taxpayer. Loans, not grants should be the norm. Giving away buidlings, tax exemptions...IT HASN'T WORKED SO STOP!

Pure and simple, businesses will not come to a City which is failing socially. If you don't fix up the neighborhoods, don't get a better school system and have rampant crime, no one will come without being bribed.

GE is a fine corporation....just because it is not run by a windbag GOPPER does not mean it should be slandered. I suggest they file lawsuits to end the defamation by the NNN idiots......

GE solar panels will be manufactured using materials from China.

That's not libel, that's reality.

Guess the $535 million the Feds used to bankroll Solyndra's failed solar panel company (which is now bankrupt) doesn't bother American's either.

The Government cannot bankroll companies - it doesn't work in free enterprise. Communist on the other don't mind this.

The FACT is that Metroplex has scored another win.  It has brought a business to downtown that will create jobs.   One project at a time, Schenectady County is revitalizing and the RENAISSANCE CONTINUES.

R72    did her homework and should be applauded

and GG or DVOR or whoever you.....your statements are so "out" you should be ashamed.

WE NEED TO BRING BACK THE FACTORIES TO USA....   seems like you are so out of touch with reality

another example      Albany International moving to Mexico

That doesn't bother you?

So who is to say that Madison HN will not do the same thing....some of these businesses are still being funded
by Metroflex and they are in bankrupcy, owe big time taxes, and get away with free money

at this juncture, no one should be receiving anything for free....work for it     and no tax breaks

JUST LIKE THE REST OF US.......

I don't think you are bright enough to realize that Metroplex's budget does NOT fund the city fire department.   The city budget covers the fire department and they will find the funds to buy the gear,

Quoted Text
How is fire protection provided in your municipality?
Cities are required to provide fire protection. It is typically provided through a municipal fire department which may have paid and/or volunteer firefighters. According to the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY), 42 cities have all or mostly paid fire departments, while 17 are all or mostly volunteer departments. Paid firefighters are commonly known as “career” firefighters. According to a 2003 FASNY report, the median wage, benefits and overtime payment for a full-time firefighter statewide (excluding NYC) was $57,278. Examples range from $49,764 in the North Country to $101,702 on Long Island.
