You're tearing me down for investing in the City? You're attacking me because I pay taxes? You're mad at me because I speak the truth.

SB and DV can say or believe whatever you want. You can cheerlead until the cows come home. Fact is, you don't live here and you have no clue what a resident or taxpayer has been going through for the past 8 years.

Your motive is to get McCarthy into office regardless of his asinine ideas ($3 mil golf course), inactivity (not dealing with pit bulls/crimes) and blatant disregard for the taxpayers by not cutting anything from a budget.

It also looks good that Parker Inn donated $100 to his campaign.  Isn't that the thread title?

The FACTS speak for themselves -- downtown Schenectady was NOT in great shape in 2001 and has gotten much better since then.  The reason for the turnaround has been the cooperative efforts of  good leadership (mainly Democrats) at the city, county and state level.

And - I did not tear you down for investing in downtown -- I never said a word about your investing in downtown,  I did question your interpretation of reality.

Finally, I don't just want Gary McCarthy to win .. I want Mayor McCarthy and the ENTIRE team of local officials to be ENORMOUSLY SUCCESSFUL so that 4 years from now we can be bragging about ANOTHER 4,000 or more jobs created, many new businesses and residents in all parts of the county and whatever other positive accomplishments can be made in that time.

I've put my money where my mouth is SB and DV, attack my motives all you want. At least at the end of the day, I know I'm talking from experience, I've invested in the City and still do. You've both refuse to acknowledge the truth about the taxpayers and what they face everyday.

I'll never be able to change that for either of you.

Honestly, you're both exactly like McCarthy. All of you refuse to see and never deal with the real issues facing the City homeowners. You all would rather have a Bombers downtown than have safe, clean neighborhoods. You all defend a Mayor who choses not to pay the schools $2 million, yet increasing fees and taxes on the middle class. It's far beyond hypocritical, it's closer to criminal in my opinion.

rachel - you've done more than put your money where your mouth is - unlike SB and DV, you actually OWN property in the city ... and have worked hard to pay your taxes ... something neither of them know about.

That is the problem in democop land............they NEVER listen to the working class taxpayers. They are ignored and ridiculed. You would think that they would be wined and dined since it is there hard earned overtaxed money that keeps the city afloat.

the city's overall value increased, according to county numbers. so there has been a change tot he tax base.. it has grown, and therefore u are paying not as much in taxes as you woul dhave had it not grown. simple math. cost of services, pensions etc. [see your glenville post] have increased as well.. the fact that tax rates have not jumped 10 20 percent is a statement to that effect. to say things are worse over last 8 years is basically a blatant political statement.,

according to the ratings machines.....and look what they do...provide virtual value....we dont even know what the value of anything is anymore.....they call them 'popped bubbles' that were
INFLATED(false numbers/security/meaning)......so I dare the ratings agencies to value the pensions....then maybe we will learn our lesson.....

I do NOT own property in the city.    Just because I know so much does not mean I live there.   Did about 25 years ago.   I just know a lot because I read from good sources such as budget documents themselves and official sources, and so I an provide proof

I've never attacked your motives .. just criticized your analysis of the situation.  As for investing in the city, I - and my family - have invested a lot of time and money in supporting institutions in the city including our parish church.   My great-grandfather supported 3 Catholic churches in the city even though he lived almost 20 miles away in Saratoga County.

I would argue that downtown is safer and cleaner WITH Bombers and the other businesses there than it was under Mayor Al - when downtown was a ghost town.   As for your comments that I wanted Bombers in downtown --- I never patronized the place when it was in Albany nor have I patronized it in Schenectady ... I don't go to clubs like Bombers .. and have no desire to either.   So stop making your prejudicial assumptions about what I want and don't want downtown or in the city.

The only people attacking motives seem to be you and MC and the whole NNTP/Alliance/nayboob crowd --

Everyone is laughing at McCarthy list of shaken down City employees and contractors that do business with the City. One poor schmuck had to give 3 checks. No taxpayer in his right mind is supporting this idiot. The TU has called on Goofy to release his college records- lol. They should have another debate so Roger can kick his butt to Pizza Hut again.
