Senders, you sure about Lums being there?........there was a Lums on Altamont Ave...... The Skillet was next to Grants for many years.........later Roman Villa was there too.........just can't remember Lums there though.......

MT.......I barely remember Lasorsa's.......took a little memory search to bring it into focus.....my sister who's a year younger doesn't remember at all......where'd you grow up?

you don't remember it? wow, now _I_ feel old.

I grew up right down the street from there - if the wind was blowing right, the smells from the oven would waft over the whole neighborhood.

Unfortunately, some smells from way out on Guilderland Ave came in too - but we had to close the windows then, it was rancid.

Yup, Helderberg Ave
Alias and I lived across the street from each other...so I know for a fact that he IS NOT STEVE TOMMASONE !

How about Sat nights about 11pm, head over to Erie Blvd for loaded Hot Dog, drive to State st to get SUN morning paper (news shop used to be at side of bridge), then head to White Eagle for fresh raisin bread for Sun morning brkfst.

Yep - that neighborhood rocked, in the day ... it's falling apart, slowly and changing.  It's just not the same as it used to be, but I'd still want to be there than anywhere else in the town.  It's just comfortable.

I remember the news stand - but can't remember the name of it ... help?  He had everything there, including the best cigars - and of course, if you knew him, a few #'s could earn you some $.

Speaking of #'s .. there used to be a diner on Broadway, past 890, across from the gas station.  Every week they had a # on their sign - or on a piece of paper in the window - everyone knew what it was for - I remember my grandfather hitting the # a couple times there.

There was another spot on Broadway, can't place it tho - was it in Guidarelli's - or was there a small diner right next door (further down the hill).  They had great hamburgers too!

Must admit....used to drop off football slips at bar on lower State St every week.....
Spent some evenings at Bar on upper Broadway meeting with friends...first time I saw a stripper was there.  Brought a friend with me and he about lost it when she came down and sat in his lap....I never laughed so hard.

Go back to other threads you wil see that Alias and I lived very close to Mott's garage, home of YELLOW 3
