CUPERTINO, California — Apple Inc. said the company's co-founder Steve Jobs died Wednesday. He was 56.

In a brief statement the company said Jobs died Wednesday. He had been battling pancreatic cancer.

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," the company said in a brief statement. "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve."

Jobs had battled cancer in 2004 and underwent a liver transplant in 2009 after taking a leave of absence for unspecified health problems. He took another leave of absence in January — his third since his health problems began — before resigning as CEO six weeks ago. Jobs became Apple's chairman and handed the CEO job over to his hand-picked successor, Tim Cook.

By the time he turned the reins of the company over to Cook, Jobs had become one of the business world’s greatest comeback kids.

The company he founded, was fired from and then returned to had gone from also-ran to technology industry leader. Under Jobs’ intensely detail-oriented leadership, Apple created several iconic products, including the iPod, iPhone and iPad, which have changed the face of consumer technology forever.

Apple also is now one of the most valuable companies in America by market capitalization. Jobs was one of the richest men in the world.

Just Wednesday the company released a new iPhone, the first such major product announcement in years that didn't involve Jobs.

Cook sent a statement to employees that in part read "Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."

Steve Jobs' Quotes:

Quoted Text
Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me ... Going to bed at night saying we've done something wonderful... that's what matters to me.

Quoted Text
Look in the mirror every morning and ask yourself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

And now I will shut down my Apple lap top, my iPad and my iPhone for the night in memory of a computer genius and will say a prayer for his family.

Our generations Thomas Edison. A true pioneer, visionary, who put Silicon Valley on the map. Woz and Steve Jobs started Apple Computer in a garage and went on to buy the former HP headquarters. Certain people cannot be replaced.

Many thanks to the Job's family for sharing their husbands talents with the world.  We'll remember his accomplishments for many years to come - and Apple will continue to grow, prosper and lead the innovation in the market.

Apple tribute logo a Web hit
By Claudine Zap | Today in Tech – 12 hrs ago

When Steve Jobs resigned from Apple in August, 7,000 miles away in Hong Kong, graphic design student Jonathan Mak Long, "shocked" by the CEO's departure, did what he knew best: He created a design to honor the Apple co-founder.
The 19-year-old posted the image, the Apple logo with the bite changed to a profile of Jobs, to his Tumblr blog. Known as Jonathan Mak, he initially received about 80 notes on the image. Then word came this past Wednesday that Jobs had died, after a long battle with cancer. Mak reposted the homage, which this time caught fire on the Web, attracting an almost immediate response of 10,000 likes and reblogs on his Tumblr site and surging to 180,000 -- in one day. Comments included "awesome invention like steve jobs." One thought it should be the "new Apple logo." Another wanted to "use it as a tattoo."
Speaking in fluent English (which he said he learned from watching the TV show "Friends"), the Polytechnic University School of Design student told Yahoo! in a Skype interview that the image was a tribute to Jobs's contributions to the world: "I wanted to commemorate him. He's such an integral part of Apple. I thought it would be fitting to include him in the Apple logo." Long added, "With Jobs gone, Apple is literally missing a piece."......................>>>>...................>>>>.............................http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/technology-blog/apple-tribute-logo-hit-202848951.html

All mourn while the DEMOCRAP party has organized rallies of young people and stooges to take to the streets to denounce a system where innovation, invention, hard work and the ability to prosper through the use of economic freedom made it POSSIBLE for a Steve Jobs to be himself.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Thank you for sharing this video.  His commencement speech says it all.  This is the man that lived what he spoke about.

I got a good dose of something I needed to be reminded of.  We own our life, no one else can take that away from us, so live it.  Even in death his life will be everlasting.

RIP

Steve Jobs Said He'd 'Go Thermonuclear War' On Google Over iPhone 'Theft'
First Posted: 10/20/11 09:11 PM ET Updated: 10/20/11 09:37 PM ET

Escalating lawsuits and barbed comments by executives have dramatized the all-out war between Apple and Google for dominance over mobile devices.

But Walter Isaacson's authorized biography of Steve Jobs offers an unprecedented look at the Apple co-founder's battle-cry against Google, a company he thought was guilty of a "grand theft" when it launched its Android operating system, which competes directly with the iPhone and has surpassed it in popularity.

"I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this," he told Isaacson of the patent lawsuit Apple filed against cell phone manufacturer HTC.

In Isaacson's "Steve Jobs," a copy of which was obtained by The Huffington Post, the author recalls that Jobs, who was known for his fierce temper, "became angrier than I had ever seen him" during a conversation about Apple's patent lawsuit, which by extension also accused Android of patent infringement.........................>>>>...................>>>>...................................http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/20/steve-jobs-google-grand-theft_n_1023111.html

They are protesting a system that no longer allows "innovation, invention, hard work and the ability to prosper" unless you were already in a privileged  position 30 years ago.

You are most likely an ignorant old person, that listens to too much talk radio, and takes everything that they spew on Fox, as gospel.
Hey! It's on the radio! It's on television! It's GOTTA be true!

I sincerely hope that you, and your kind live to a ripe old age, however, I hope that you are already 112 years old.
